I was single until late in my thirties, and I wish I would have had this book to read then. It is a detailed, thoughtful take on being single and following God's plan. It's also worth reading for those who find themselves in work or relationships they're not satisfied with. This book encourages all of us to look to the Lord for peace, strength, and encouragement in our lives.

I have read quite a few books on Christian singles and this is by far one of the best. However, like others have said it is too short and would have been better if the author had expanded upon some ideas.

Although this is primarily written to women, I found the advice and stories to be pertinent to my situation. (I am a 36 year old single male). I had just finished reading Henry Cloud's "How To Find A Date Worth Keeping" and I didn't enjoy Dr. Cloud's book at all. In fact, I would steer any of my Christian brothers and sisters away from it as I was horrified that others were taking his advice to heart. His book was so unbiblical in the advice it gave.

I'm saying that because I felt that Singleness Redefined was completely the opposite. Scriptures are quoted throughout and tied in with whatever story she is telling. The author's reasoning is that if it is not our time to be married, then serve the Lord in your singleness. Yes, it can be very hard to be single and in your 30s, but make the best of it. She gives dozens of ways to serve and be productive for the Kingdom in your singleness.

The writing is honest and I also found certain chapters hitting closer to home than I would have thought. Like Ms. Leutwiler, I skipped more than one of my friends' weddings this summer because of the awkwardness I feel at what should be a joyous occasion. Unlike the other reviewer, nothing dragged to me and I skipped nothing. I have no problem admitting I need help in this area and I'm happy there are some Biblically based books to nudge me along.

I am so thankful that this book was written! The author does an wonderful job of sharing her own personal experiences, offering critical truth and advice and encouraging her readers to define their lives by so much more than their marital status!

Although this is a quick read, it's a timely reminder of God's sovereignty and His perfect purpose for our lives. As a single woman, I struggle with contentment. This book encourages and challenges the reader to "bloom where planted" through scriptural references and the author's own struggles and anecdotes.

This book was a quick read, and a great reminder that God is sovereign. The author backed all of her assertions with Scripture and was honest and real about her own struggles with being single. She also had a sense of humor, but never strayed from Biblical truth that God has His purpose for our time of singleness, whether that time be long or short.

Short book, quick read. Not what I expected it to be based on the first chapter which was available online...I enjoyed the first chapter, but the rest of the book dragged. I found myself skipping large sections throughout the book and waiting for it to pick up.Some interesting points...not sure if it "redefined" singleness for me.
