This is a yellow-back book. Ideal for fluent readers, and great fun for practising reading aloud. They also make wonderful bedtime stories for younger children.

Frustrated for want of a good introductory text for a Biblical Theology course, this book was their attempt to fill a void. However, this should not deter either more advanced readers or lay readers from picking up this book. Leaning heavily upon .

Have you wondered how the Bible hangs together, or how to make sense of it all? The Bible isn't a set of separate books: it's a compelling drama that unfolds from beginning to end. This book unfolds Scripture in six "acts"--from the establishment of God's kingdom to the "return of the King." The authors clearly show God working in the world and in the lives of people to establish the great kingdom that has been God's plan from the beginning. Learn how God's story continues in our lives here and now, and how to discover our meaning and place in it. Great for seasoned Christians looking for a new way to read the Bible as well as for new believers who want to understand the Scriptures in a Reformed context. Discussion questions are included.

This is a very in depth and engaging view of the Bible. I only had one disagreement with a statement pertaining to God speaking to the 'heavenly angelic host' when He said "Let us make man in our image and likeness". I also had a slight issue with their exclusive use of the TNIV Bible, but that was just a personal preference. Otherwise, their use of 'play acts' reference to the way that the Bible plays out from Genesis to Revelation is an excellent approach.

This is a great book. It's a revised edition of a previous title, "The Drama of Scripture." A very accessible treatment of the biblical narrative that invites and enables the reader to locate themself in the story of which they are a part rather then just conveying a boatload of information. I really can't think of a more helpful book for both Christians and non-Christians alike that are interested in understanding the biblical and Christian view of God and the world and how that all relates to them. This book helps fulfill a critical piece in christian discipleship. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

Having read and finished this book in a very short period of time I am convinced that I should have read this book much earlier in my life. Very few books give a good view of the bible and its meaning to a lay reader in a manageable number of pages. A highlight for me is the timeline of Israel's slavery. I had read about the slavery in other writings but still failed to see the full picture around its timeline which pieces together the two testaments to a large extent. I can confidently say that it is indeed my story too.

I enjoyed this book, especially the Old Testament and Inter-testimonial sections. I thought it fell short a bit in the New Testament. With that said I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a good overview of the Bible. These types of books should be the first ones a new Christian reads (or someone who's been in church for years and still doesn't get the big picture).

Price was fair, shipping was prompt, book was in exceptional condition...This is a book that my son is studying at college. I'm impressed with the historical appreciation the authors assign to the Bible...it is a story in which we are involved.
