I enjoyed this book immensely! This is the first book I have read anything written by Craig Groeschel. I saw him one day with Joyce Meyer and he was talking about this book, and I'm so happy I bought it. It is not for the faint of heart, meaning...if you are not serious about change and letting go, you might not be ready for it yet. I did enjoy his writing style and the transparencies of his own sin and pride that he has dealt with. He's not preaching, but teaching. This booked helped shine a light on things in my life that God wanted me to let go of and move a level up on others. I prayed before reading asking the Holy Spirit to guide me and help me be obedient to any changes needed. And I'm so happy I did. Yeah, you need prayer and an ear to hear for this one. Does Pastor Craig, step on some toes? Yup, he does. But I've never known gain to be without some pain! Great book!

My first Craig Groeshel book and it was amazing. Such a well-written, spiritual, thought-provoking read. I read it and felt a ton of bricks being lifted from my chest. His written word is as if someone were sitting in the room talking to me as easily as any close friend. I can't wait to pick up another of his books. Don't know how it would top this one, but I'm willing to bet all his books are just as wonderful. Thank you! I detoxed my soul with every page. A book I'll go back to over and over again.

I love this book! Craig Groeschel writes this in a way that's easy to understand, and the book motivates us to pay closer attention to the things we allow into our spirits. I highly recommend it!
  • Wat!?
This book as required reading for our means small group. I read it in less than a month and it was enjoyable. This is a good book for new believers because it lays a lot of ground work. I also think it is a good refresher for mature believers because often times we neglect the fundamentals (which this book lays out really well.) His writing style is easy to read and he seems like an approachable guy I could sit down and watch football with and he wouldn't scold me if a bad word came out.

The only reason I gave this book four stars is that there were a few things I didn't agree with. Nothing earth shattering, simply nuances of how to deal with certain situations and people. Overall, it was a good book!

Craig takes us to where the rubber meets the road. No beating around the bush. If we're going to be effective in the work given to us by Christ then we have to get the toxins out of our lives.
Come ingest the things of the Lord and be truly free. A hard stand which has eternal effects.

I just finished this book and must now read it again, making plans on what I WILL do differently/better and how I can implement these ideas to help others. Great book for counseling, too. More topics than I would have ever expected, like porn addiction. Plan to go through the workbook on my next read.

My Bible study group ordered this guide along with the video and the book to use for our study this year. We (wrongly) assumed that all three of these were designed to be used together. The Participant Guide is set up to go with the video which has five sessions. References are made to the book in the Guide, directing the participants to read a specific chapter that relates to the topic for that session. However, the book has twelve chapters and there are no discussion questions or study suggestions for the chapters that are not covered in the videos.
That said, the guide serves well to prompt discussion about the video and is probably a good study for young Christians.
I recoomend this book to anyone that is looking for a closer walk with the Lord and for those that are praying for purpose whether it be for ministry or in life in general. Soul Detox will help to clear out the junk in your life that is keeping you for hearing the voice of the Lord as He gives direction and purpose to our lives. We are bombarded with so much negative junk that it is easy to loose direction. There were a couple of surprising discoveries: some of what I thought was acceptable 'junk' was actually emotional, spiritual and physical junk that I needed to toss. Good read.
