Charles Paschal Telesphore Chiniquy (30 July 1809 – 16 January 1899) was a Canadian Catholic priest who left the Catholic Church and became a Presbyterian minister. He rode the lecture circuit in the United States denouncing the Catholic Church.

Charles Paschal Telesphore Chiniquy (30 July 1809 – 16 January 1899) was a Canadian Catholic priest who left the Catholic Church and became a Presbyterian minister. His themes were that it was pagan, that Catholics worshipped the Virgin Mary, and that its theology was anti-Christian.

Charles P. Chiniquy (1809–1899) was a Canadian Catholic priest who left the Catholic Church and became a Protestant. I would also recommend a follow up to this book, Forty Years in the Church of Christ, by Chiniquy. He is known for his writings and sermons against the Roman Catholic Church. In the period between 1885 and 1899 he was the focus of a great deal of discussion in the United States of America. He was a real man of God and describes his many accurate, actual experiences. In reading his narratives, I find that he is very humble, ingenious and intelligent, having learned what the Bible teaches.

Start reading Fifty Years In The Church Of Rome (unabridged) on your Kindle in under a minute. Chiniquy then prepared for his first communion he went to church almost every day,not only to learn by heart the catechism, but to hear the explanations of all its teachings. The catechism taught as a preparation for their first communion was the foundation of the idolitries and superstitions which the church of Rome gives as the religion of Christ. With it Rome corrupts the most sacred truths of the Gospel. It is there that jesus is removed and that Mary is put in his place. For his first communion he was taught to prepare to receive the real presence of Christ.

Charles Chiniquy 1809-1899 If any one, at that hour, could have shown me that this struggle would lead to a complete separation from the Church of Rome, I would have shrank from the task.

Charles Chiniquy 1809-1899. CHAPTER 62. When alone, on my knees, in the presence of God, on the 1st of January, 1855, I took the resolution of opposing the acts of simony and tyranny of Bishop O'Regan, I was far from understanding the logical consequences of my struggle with that high dignitary. My only object was to force him to be honest, just and Christian towards my people. If any one, at that hour, could have shown me that this struggle would lead to a complete separation from the Church of Rome, I would have shrank from the task.

Autobiography of Charles Chinquy. The Light of God's Word, shone through and brought him out of Rome. He spent Fifty years in the Roman Catholic Church before seeing true salvation in the Bible and converting to Presbyterian. He started the town of St. Anne, Illinois (side note: I took a trip up there to see this place, kind of cool, but not as much History as I had hoped). After leaving the Catholic Church, the Church sought to persicute him, he was then represented by a young lawyer, Abraham Lincoln. Under the Church of Rome, he was part of the Jesuit movement to move French Canadians from Canada to the prairies of Illinois. He founded the town of St. Anne, IL.

Charles Chiniquy was born at Kamouraska, Quebec, Canada of Roman Catholic parents. Rome and Education- Why the Church of Rome hates the Common Schools of the United States, and want to destroy them? · Theology of the Church of Rome: its Anti-Christian Character. He studied at the college of Nicolet in Canada, professor of belles-lettres, after graduation he entered the priesthood (at an early age) and continued therein until he was an old man. This autobiographical narrative is one of the most profound histories of the Roman Catholic Church of the early 1800's in the USA and Canada. I would also recommend a follow up to this book, Forty Years in the Church of Christ, by Chiniquy. He was a real man of God and describes his many accurate, actual experiences. In reading his narratives, I find that he is very humble, ingenious and intelligent, having learned what the Bible teaches. Even more, God had granted him such a spiritual mind in an active body, because he knew what true temperance was, by which he preserved himself to a grand old age. He was wholly dedicated and very on fire for the Lord Jesus Christ as no other Catholic Priest has ever been in my estimation. He was an honest man, and found out so many secret things happening which affected our nation. Truly all that he foresaw coming to our nation through its enemies is coming true today. You ought to read his books.

"Fifty Years in the Church of Rome" is penetrating and credible, the witness of a long life spent searching in every way to reconcile the search for knowledge of God with the restraints of Catholic ideology. In the end he is compelled to break free of Catholic Orthodoxy and stand alone before God. I found this tale exhilerating, a great confirmation of the wonder of the human heart that never gives up its search for God, and above all a testament to the faithfulness of God, who will never let fall the soul that earnestly seeks Him.

Very easy to read, short chapters are complete in themselves, almost like little short stories. Brother Chiniquy is a master at re-telling the drama. Clearly he kept a journal all his life, there is so much detail. I did get a little overwhelmed by all the proper names/people in his life, so I just kept a few penciled notes of the main character in each chapter which helped me keep track. Usually it didn't matter, though. The message of the book is abundantly clear: Thanks to the early training of his parents, especially his mother, who loved the Bible, the Bible became his ultimate, not any church or creed. The Catholic church in those days sternly frowned upon Bible reading. He saw terrible abuse of every kind within the church, yet he believed it was just individual priests who were so errant. His faith in the Catholic Church was constantly tested and yet he hung on until he just couldn't hang on any longer. Outstanding!

I am an ex-catholic turned Protestant at age 15. I never knew of the atrocities of the church until reading this book, what an eye opener. Charles has written a masterpiece of a work. The book is long, but should be read by every Christian.
I always enjoy the witness of a person who experience the inside of a very secret society who real deal is to rule the whole earth.
