Many believers and partners of my ministry have expressed how much they have benefited from my book Dressed To Kill but wished I had a shorter version of the same material - something less than almost 500 pages! They wanted to be able to be built up and encouraged reading a small book the same way they were when they read Dressed To Kill. For this reason, I have taken the portions that are the heart of Dressed To Kill and revised them to become this powerful little book called Spiritual Weapons To Defeat the Enemy. I pray this book will be a blessing to you! Rick Renner.

Dressed to Kill book. Rick Renner does such a excellent job on very important subject. Aug 06, 2018 Tara Ferguson rated it really liked it. It looks long and daunting at first glance, but once I started I found it easy to finish. Renner is such an amazing teacher, and this book does not disappoint.

Dressed to Kill is a great book on spiritual warfare coupled with balance. It helps you not swing too far left or right but to stay right in the middle of the road with spiritual warfare. The only thing that is a bit distracting with the audible version is that the music behind the intro to each chapter are a bit too high so the lady narrator's voice gets drown out sometimes. (Sorry I edit music and videos). This book is great. I highly recommend it. I also recommend that if you have purchased the Audible version to actually purchase a hard copy. The picture references are worth the price alone. There is a lot of information packed into this book. And instead of focusing on screaming at the devil it brings the focus back to Christ! Plus what's not to like? This book goes into detail about Paul's experience and why he focused on Roman Soldiers as the reference to the armor of God. How Rick Rener descibes the way Romans used their weapons is enough to help you understand a depth of the armor of God that I've never even thought about. This is a definite must read. It's deep enough to captivate adults yet simple enough to teach to kids! Love this book, I think it should be on everyone's bookshelf and used as part of your weaponry against the enemy. Enjoy this book! I know I have!

This is without a doubt the best and most complete book on spiritual warfare I have EVER read in my 40+ years as a Christian! We are told to put on the full armor but there is very little teaching on HOW. This book has the answer. It is also a great source for teaching; we are going to use it in our small group Bible study. EVERY Christian needs this book! Thank you, Rick Renner.

This book is needful for the believer to stand their ground based on Biblical teaching found in Ephesians 6. R.Renner spotlights the armor, the greek it was written in, and the historical setting in the time of Rome. You will not be sorry if you purchase this book for you, a grad, etc.

This book should be considered a classic of Christian living. It deals with the subject of spiritual warfare at a level of depth and sophistication that is unusual. Renner is a sholar of biblical Greek to the extent that he is able to extract the full richness and power of the original text and relate it to language and concepts we can understand. He begins the book by distancing himself from the "spiritual warfare movement" or craze that has a lot of Christians' attention, pointing out that any and all skills or techniques one might read about and learn in this area are useless if we do not personally commit to living in a humble and holy way that is pleasing to God. His ability to bring a robust understanding of all that is embedded in Paul's words is probably unparalleled, at least in this subject matter pertaining to the full armor of God in Ephesians 6. I can not recommend this book highly enough.

The information in this book is very good. The only reason for three stars instead of 5 is the writing is redundant. This book could have been half as long as it is.

Understanding our position with God and the weapons available to us as children, we can be assured that we are supplied with all that's needed to win any confrontation. To understand the use of all the pieces as a whole, reflects our intent to be the victors in battle. Understanding the types of prayer and the power of each, will infuse each request with our armour attached to walk in victory.

Renner’s strength is his ability to bring out the meaning of the original Greek in a way that the reader is able to have a good, working knowledge of what God intended for us to understand in His word. In fact, he goes verse by verse and word by word, bringing out the meaning of the original Greek on the entirety of Ephesians 6:10-18. As he does this, he brings in many other passages related to spiritual warfare, and he brings out the meaning of the original Greek on these passages as well. Renner has a way of bringing out the original Greek in such a way that it makes it exciting, encouraging, invaluable, educational, and one wants to read more. I genuinely felt the joy of the Lord as I read this book. The amount of detail is fantastic. I could not put this book down, it was so good. I might add that before I read this book, I had already done many word studies in Ephesians chapter 6 and other passages related to spiritual warfare with my word study books. So, before I ever read what Renner had to say about many of the same words in his book, I already knew what these words meant in the original Greek. When I read what Renner said, I immediately knew that he understood exactly what he was saying. He has a wonderful grasp of New Testament Greek. I originally purchased this book, because half of this entire book is just on the spiritual armor as described in Ephesians chapter 6. I know of no other book that explains the spiritual armor in as much depth as this one does. In the middle of this book, there are excellent, sharp full-color pictures of the Roman armor. This allows one to see exactly what the apostle Paul had in mind when writing about the spiritual armor.
After saying all of these wonderful things about Renner’s book, I am now going to share what I strongly disliked about it. At the very beginning of this book, under Acknowledgments, and at the very end of this book, under A Word About Our Work, Renner associates with and identifies with Faith Healers, such as Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, Joyce Meyer. I, personally, try to stay as far away from Faith Healers as possible. However, for the record, Renner did an outstanding job in Dressed to Kill. As somebody who is on the conservative side of things and does not embrace the more outward manifestations of the Holy Spirit, I learned a lot from this book. I cannot say enough good about it. Admittedly, there were a few “weird” ideas that I disagreed with near the first part of this book and also in the last part of this book. I believe that these ideas were from the Faith/Healing ministries. However, I simply skipped over those parts. I have never read a book where I agree with every single point anyway. Having said this, I would gladly read Renner’s entire book a second time.
So far, I have read four books on spiritual warfare. I would put Renner’s book at the very top of the list, directly next to Jerry Rankin’s Spiritual Warfare: The Battle for God’s Glory. One of Rankin’s strengths is that he deals with misunderstandings among Christians and misinterpretations of Scripture. Both Renner’s book and Rankin’s book are an absolute must for every Christian. Both are overflowing with wisdom and helpful information.
Concerning The Loinbelt of Truth in chapter 10, in my opinion, things get a little confusing: He says that the Sword of the Spirit, the word of God is not a visible piece of weaponry—the Bible. He equates the loinbelt of truth with the written word of God, and he speaks of them as if they are one and the same. I believe that the Sword of the Spirit can also be understood as the Bible. I also believe that Renner could have put the focus on the Bible as something outside of the spiritual armor or in addition to it. Instead of speaking of the loinbelt of truth and the written word of God as the same thing, Renner could have said that the way somebody keeps the loinbelt securely fastened around the waist is to read and study the Bible on a daily basis.
For the record, Renner is absolutely right in putting a huge emphasis on the written word of God and all of the wonderful things he says about it. This is another major theme throughout this entire book.
As a Greek scholar and Faith leader Rick Renners' work takes us to the original meaning of the scriptures. Each of the books he writes are historically rich and scripturlly sound. This is not one of those back patting Christian books we work through. The author, Rick Renner tells us the significance of Christ's actions and how they relate to Christians today. He explains the slavery which all endure until they accept Christ and he explains the real significance of the armor we are given from the word of God to live a victorious life. His work is very readable and educational.
