The book is organized in flashbacks, each inspired by someone Rose meets during her daylong drive home. This structure is irksome and distracting (as is the question of why a high-powered professional who's attached at the hip to her BlackBerry didn't fly in the first place).

Flies on the Butter book. I love her writing style. I love Denise Hildreth Jones books.

Like most of Denise Hildreth's books, it starts slow and then picks up. Of all the kids, I found Elizabeth to be the least endearing even after she had changed for the better.

Only 5 left in stock (more on the way). Like most of Denise Hildreth's books, it starts slow and then picks up. She seemed so full of hate whereas the other kids were just misguided and extremely self-absorbed.

Can you ever really go home again?

Rose Fletcher's come a long way from her South Carolina up-bringing of Sunday church and Mamaw's fried chicken. As a high-powered lobbyist in Washington, D.C., Rose has put the South behind her. But the peace and happiness she has sought eludes her. With her marriage on the brink of disaster, her mind races with the chaos her life has become.

Now Rose must head south for home. She'll face her demons, relive her coming-of-age, and confront the issues that have kept her away all these years. It'll take the intervention of strangers and a painful miracle of grace to help her find that place called "home" once again.

This is an all-inclusive look at the ways God shows His love,His grace and His mercy to a very lost young career woman. He literally pursues her through the labyrinthine spritual highways on her drive home to reluctantly see her family. Would recommend to those searching for peace as well as those who need to remember where God may have brought them from.

This was my first book by Denise Hildreth but it won't be my last. What a wonderful book about trying to run from our past. After reading this book, I heard the song and it will be stuck in my head forever. Our main character has moved away from the south, they don't say why in the beginning so I won't ruin it for anyone else, but if you love southern writing you will love this book.

The food descriptions alone are enough to drive you crazy. You feel like you are in the car with her, in the seat next to her. You can feel the speed underneath you. When she drinks the ice cold coke you can feel it go down your own throat.

I can't wait to read her newest, Hurricanes in Paradise.. I passed this one on, and I highly recommend it. It sinds of forgiveness and our own personal trials.

A reflective journey that involved introspection and coming to grips with her past and current life. God's arms are always open ready to redeem us.

Great "southern" read! I love how Rose runs into people who are prompted to pray for her. Even when we are far away, God is close! This book was so good I literally finished it in less than a day.

Loved this book - once I started reading I could hardly stand to put it down. And the title at the end gives a whole new perspective in a Chrisian way as to why we should shoo the flies away from the butter. So far this is my second book by Denise, Wisteria Way was just as good. Highly recommend. I have met her in person and she is a simple, genuine and down to earth as they come. Love her heart!

I’ve never read this author but I was surprised at the way I couldn’t put the book down. It was easy to read and I really enjoyed the characters and flashbacks of childhood throughout the story.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It took all of 2 1/2 days to complete it. There were laugh out loud moments and others that were very moving. I'd recommend this writer to anyone. I am looking forward to the next one. You should also read Hurricanes in Paradise. Another winner.
