This book along with The White Coat Investor are excellent books for physicians just finishing residency/fellowship and entering practice. For any professional who is short on time or attention, this book does a great job of reviewing the basic principles of investing including compounding, modern portfolio theory, and index investing. It truly delivers a tremendous amount of investment knowledge (that many investors haven't learned after decades of investing) in plain English. It is a great starting point for further reading or as a stand alone guide for setting up an initial investment foundation on which to vet advisors. If your advisor or potential advisor doesn't know this stuff cold and agree with 90% of it, look for a different advisor!

I enjoyed his graphs and charts. I would say that the 10% return on investment was a bit high and all charts and graphs should have been closer to 7% to be a little more realistic especially since his primary advice is to follow the S&P500.

Great book! I'm a 21 year old looking for the knowledge to start working on my nestegg, and this book did exactly that. I now feel prepared to start working on my retirment. The author is straight forward, yet thorough. Great easy read and great buy. I just bought a copy for my 24 year old brother for Christmas.

If you or someone you know is getting close to retirement, this is a great book. Even if you aren't it is even better!

This book absolutely lives up to it's name. In only 100 well-written pages it clearly presents the proven facts about how to invest in order to optimally decrease risk and increase return. I have a Master's degree in Financial Economics and it took me years to appreciate this important information. Every investor should read this short book. If you follow its guidance, then you too will be able to retire earlier and sleep better.

Great book. Wish it had been written 30 years ago when I first started investing.

Solid advice and a very quick read. On the plus side there are great links to applicable research and you can get a good handle on the topics very quickly. On the down side, you'll have to go elsewhere if you want to dive into any one of the many issues Davis covers.
great basic reading for those with a short attention span. It has most of the essentials but is now apparently out of print. Get it used
