Joanna Campbell appears here with her six-year-old Thoroughbred, Meyersville Magic, known around the barn as C. I think that the Thoroughbred book Rising Star is an excellent book to read.

Joanna Campbell appears here with her six-year-old Thoroughbred, Meyersville Magic, known around the barn as CC. He's a son of Horatius out of Northwich by Timothy's Champ and is owned by Cathy Day. Formerly trained for racing, he is now being trained for eventing. I have read all of the Thoroughbred books in the series so far because i own them all. Rising Star is based on how Christina's courage gets her places and her faith in Star never gives out. it all pays of when they win their first race back together! This is most definitely a book you must read!

Ok first off. This book was ok. Not great not horrible. If you like a good read about Parker than go ahead. Give this book a try. If you are a loyal TB reader then I would say read this book and be very dissapointed. Parker gets a new horse - which Ihappen to like alot. He still has Foxy but what's up with Foxy...? I mean come on writers !...Argggg...... Ok Parker has been a great character from the beginning - well at least I liked him. This book makes parker almost look bad. What has happened to funny never cares about a thing Parker!...Double Humph. All I have to say is that this book series ended at about book 24. I want the old charcters and the old series back.

When I read the back cover description, I groaned. Any other fill-in-the-blank Parker book. However, I wasn't disapoitned. Though many things where annoying, wrong or just plain dumb, the book was mildly interesting. I must say, the cliffie didn't bother me at all because it's ver predictable. Foxy is going to need a long rest, and Ozzie is going to magically wake up over night and take Parker to the Olympics, and of course, Parker is going to win.
I miss the old days when Joanna was writing. The horses actually had personality, unlike StarTheSuperHorse.
Remember when Chris sold Sterling, Kaitlin didn't want to buy her because she'd be going to college in a year or two? And all of a sudden she's fifteen or something?
All in all, it could have been worse. But the new series just doesn't compare to the old one..Oh well, I'll keep reading and hope for a miracle!

Ok, so the ending stank. But the eiditors are the ones to blame for that.... they cut off the last chapter! I like Parker, and I am working on jumping, so I found this book just as interesting as the others, though not as good, because, let's face it this is a series about RACING. But a break from that subject is good! And Foxy almost dying... that's something that happens to ALL TB HORSES, HELLO! Wonder, Star, Pride, Princess, Image... you don't gripe about them almost dying, do you?! So relax, the rest of the book was good, and I love Ozzie! Parker IS A GOOD GUY, everyone makes bad choices, all TB characters do and again, YOU DON'T GRIPE ABOUT THAT! So, get real, this book is better then a lot of the other horrible downhill ones!

This book was okay. I didn't like a fact that it barely mentioned Chirstina and Star who are prepping for the Derby! The problems that Christina and Parker are having give the book a interesting twist. I really hope Parker gets to the Olympics and that the authors don't completely drop the fact that Foxy was sick at the end and keep us updated on where Parker is on hsi road to the Olympics. All in all, this was an okay book, but not one of my faves.

Some people say that Parker is a jerk, but HE IS NOT!! He was wrong to push Fozy too hard, but he felt horrible afterwards indicating that he LOVES Foxy. And, I've learned ALOT from the eventing part of the series. So, it's not about racing for once, but that's OK! I LOVE Thoroughbred, and it is sad that some people think it's going down hill. It's NOT!

ok- great parker townsend tries to make the team- i knew that he was trying to make the team for like 10 books before this one. eventing is the one problem about this book too. the thoroughbred series started out with -one word- RACING- and this series is suposed to be about racing- i think that this series is going downhill- and fast!

Well...I can't say it was a BAD book, because it wasn't. Although I do have to say, the synopsis on the back didn't really have much to do with the book, they didn't mention anything about being a "team player" really. I enjoyed reading about Parker's quest for a second horse, and his needing money. So he is human after all! I was, however, enraged by the cliff-hanger ending, very annoying. All in all, it was a good book, although I must ask, where had Image gone? What is going to happen in the Derby? So far it seems it will be Star, Image, Celtic Mist, Rush Street, and Gratis...who else? TIme never seems to move forward in these books!
I liked this book, because I've been a fan of Parker since he was introduced. This book is really very close to what goes on during those big events and the life of an eventer, so much as I know. But here's anwser to a widely asked question: The story doesn't end itself because the editors/publishers cut off the last chapter to make the book shorter. ..
