When a crocodile egg rolls down the hill and into the nest with the rest of her eggs, Mother Duck pays no mind and raises the little crocodile as if he were a duck.

Love this book. I can't understand why it is no longer in print. So excited to find it!

I seem to only review our favorite books. This is no doubt one of them. As another reviewer pointed out, the book seems to have been inspired by an adoption story but that's not its trademark lesson. That bit of information is gleaned from the dust jacket bio but not as easily from the story itself. Our family's take has always been a lesson about peer pressure, values, and that self definition comes from within. Guji s a crocodile, but not all crocodiles eat ducks.

Cute, simple story. My little one loves it.

One of my favorite children's books and one that kids ask for over and over.
  • Falya has a great read along for this book. One of my favorites to show in class!

Love this book! I've brought 4-5 copies to give as gifts.

I borrowed this book from our local library a few months ago and my children fell in love. I have a 3 year old daughter and a 5 year old son. They both adore Guji Guji and wanted to hear the story many times. They just find it charming. It has been a while since we borrowed it and my daughter still asks for it. I am buying it for her birthday so she will have a copy of her own.
Such a fun little book! The translation is first rate as the story travels from Chinese and is still clever, funny, easy to read and memorable. The first page alone is worth the read! Hah! Enjoy this little gem!
