Kristin Walker grew up in the Pennsylvania countryside, finally landing at Penn State where she earned a BA in Theatre Arts. In addition to being an actor, Kristin worked at many things on her way to becoming an author. She was a lifeguard, a nanny, a beginning ballroom dance instructor, a library circulation clerk, and very nearly a nurse. She's the author of the young adult novels, A MATCH MADE IN HIGH SCHOOL and 7 CLUES TO WINNING YOU. She also has written a middle grade novel, THE FIRST DAY OF SEPTEMBER

The writing is just amazing and I adore the way Kristin Walker pens such a smooth great feel book that makes it feel like I'm in high school all over again while adding some really insightful realizations towards the characters.

Jun 17, 2010 Ari rated it really liked it. I don't know about you, but from time to time I like to curl up in my bed, with a cute book in my hands and not to think about anything - just enjoy it's cuteness. The writing is just amazing and I adore the way Kristin Walker pens such a smooth great feel book that makes it feel like I'm in high school all over again while adding some really insightful realizations towards the characters. This plot is to much fun with an unexpected ending which was nice.

When the principal announces that every senior must participate in a mandatory year-long Marriage Education program, Fiona Sheehan believes that her life can't get any worse. Then she marries her "husband"-jerky jock Todd, whose cheerleader girlfriend, Amanda, has had it in for Fiona since day one of second grade. Even worse? Amanda is paired with Fiona's long-term crush, Gabe. At least Fiona is doing better than her best friend, Marcie, who is paired up with the very quiet, very mysterious Johnny Mercer.

That okay with you, Squirt?. Fine with me, she said, examining the contents of her bag. Todd put in an extra handful of candy. Gracias, Señor, she said. Todd raised an eyebrow but said, Have fun trick-ortreating, Squirt. Make sure Fiona takes lots of potty breaks. He waved and shut the door before I had a chance to fire back. What did he mean by that?. Nevermind, Marcie and I said together. We hooked our arms into Sam’s and set off. Todd isn’t that bad, Sam said

Fiona learns a lot about making assumptions about people she knows, and she learns to see the people around her differently when she’s forced to interact with them. Be aware that Fiona does have a foul mouth, so if you want to avoid profanity, this won’t be a good choice. Otherwise, it’s a fun book to read and a great one to discuss. I highly recommend it. Save. When the principal announces that every senior must participate in a mandatory year-long Marriage Education program, Fiona Sheehan believes that her life can't get any worse. Then she marries her "husband": jerky jock Todd, whose cheerleader girlfriend, Amanda, has had it in for Fiona since day one of second grade. Even worse? Amanda is paired with Fiona's long-term crush, Gabe. At least Fiona is doing better than her best friend, Marcie, who is paired up with the very quiet, very mysterious Johnny Mercer. Pranks, fights, misunderstandings, and reconciliations ensue in an almost Shakespearean comedy of errors about mistaken first impressions, convoluted coupling, and hidden crushes.

As you can tell from my rating, I loved it. The characters were so well written and Fiona had such a clear voice that I was hopelessly wrapped up in her hilarious melodrama. I read a couple reviews that said some of the characters were washed out. I totally disagree. There may have been a few characters who traditionally would have played bigger roles but I think that the author was wise to play these characters down. By doing so, she put the focus on her intended story rather than the romance. This is not a love story. Not really. There is romance in it but it's not really the point of the story. In fact, the romance aspect of the novel is really more of a helper-story. It is really just there to illustrate the author's point. The real story is about a girl, Fiona, who learns to see people for who they really are and not make judgements based on looks and stereotypes. Sure, that makes it sound a bit too much like an after school special but it is so much better than that. It is delightfully cynical, optimistic, caring, selfish, funny, serious and every other contradiction. And on top of that, the end was perfect. So suspend disbelief for a few hundred pages, stop trying to poke holes in the logistics and embrace the whole marriage education concept. It's worth it.

To give 5 stars I want to say "wow," but that usually happens with suspense novels giving you a roller coaster ride. I did not feel "wow" at the end, but I smiled a lot during the story. I see it as excellent for its genre. It's teen love, self image, different personalities, high school issues and conflicts. It's young adult but also enjoyable for adults. I feel good when I think about some of the things in the book. I won't say more because I don't want to ruin the fun of the unexpected.

I absolutely enjoyed this book. Fiona is in one word...real. There is no pretense, or shyness with her. The one thing I loved the most about her is she spoke her mind and didn't care what others thought. Her loving kind heart towards her babysitting charge got to me the most. She would make an excellent big sister. Her parents were gross yet completely hilarious. I really thought she would end up w/ Senor S***slacks...very unexpected ending.

i was not impressed with this book. For one thing the romance between Johnny and Fiona seemed totally one sided until the end of the book because Fiona was too busy obsessing over Gabe Webber a guy who ends up dating her friend for about a minute and doesnt even know Fiona exists pretty much. Also she seemed to have way more chemistry with her marriage ed partner Todd Harding. The pranks and pyscho guidance counselor were funny which was the only thing that saved this book from getting 1 star all in all good comedy not the best romance

Why has no one told me about this book? I am a frequent watcher of youtube review videos and feel I have been let down by the book community. What a jewel of a book this was. I highly recommend this book but only if you love to laugh. This book is not for the broody at heart.
I have never laughed so hard in my life. I snorted, gasped, and wheezed until the very last page. I had to pause several times to wipe the tears of hysteria and to gather myself so I could continue reading.
I loved all of the characters and the chemistry between them. The witty banter was hilarious. I fell completely in love with Fee's parents. They were a hoot. My favorite character though had to be Fee. I loved spending time in her head.
For the most part things were pretty predictable and some things like the main plot was pretty far fetched but the book could have been about two plants trying to transplant to Arizona and it wouldn't have taken away from how fantastic this book was. As long as Kristin Walker is writing it, it will be hilarious.
Very rarely do I fell like I could read a book again right away, but if I wasn't lending it to a friend I would start it over. This is a book that I will read over and over, at least a few times a year. Definitely my go to book for a laugh. I will definitely be reading all of her future work. I am a fan.
