Each two page spread features a Halloween riddle and an answer that is hidden under a liftable flap. The riddles identify all the things that tell you that it's Halloween.

This is a fun little book, most appropriate for children who are old enough, obviously, to solve the riddles - toddlers to preschoolers would be my first guess, though what age they'll outgrow it at is hard to say because it IS such a fun book. The riddles are simple and clear, so young kids can feel a sense of accomplishment in guessing correctly. The images aren't very detailed, and tend toward the bland side color-wise, but they do manage to convey a sense of fun and not be scary. The pages are a thin cardboard and the flaps are simply an extension of the right-hand side of each page. They'll tear fairly easily but because of the way they open, they're less likely to be ripped off than many liftable flaps in other books. A nice way to share Halloween with those children who aren't yet up for a good old-fashioned scary holiday. The best parts of all, from a parenting standpoint, are the riddle that provide a chance to teach your child a little something in such a sneaky way.
