This title is one of a series of clever books that include a phonogram spinner inside the back cover. I have been collecting the short vowel family books: -at, -en, -ug and -og. The words in the story belonging to the /ug/ family are printed in red, enabling the beginning reader to concentrate on them while an adult gives help when needed with the rest of the text. My son first heard/read this book at his preschool. The teacher let us 'borrow' the book once also. She mentioned that it is a favorite of the students. My son really enjoys the book. He likes to spin the wheel to spell the word-- you need to find the correct constant as to make the correct word. I also ask him to read me the 'wrong' words as he goes along. He will ask me to read this book to him about once a month when I pick him up from school. I came to Amazon today to look about buying him his own copy along with the other 3 books in the fun with phonics series (with the turning wheel).
