"Don't Drink The Holy Water" is the best book I have ever seen to help explain the Mass to children. This book can be read to preschoolers, and then as children learn to read they will enjoy reading it themselves. Fr. Joe Kempf and his furry friend Big Al are a hit with all the kids.

I bought this book for our parish library; when I received it, I realized I had found a real treasure. I loaned it to my daughter who teaches Religious Education in a neighboring parish. Her students loved the book and it led them to discuss various parts of the Mass. I took the book to a meeting of our parish library committee, and everyone thought it was great. We decided to purchase copies for all of the children in our parish who will be receiving their First Holy Communion this year.

This is a colorfully illustrated 64 page hardcover book and includes a 50 minute DVD that the kids will love. It has a parent section that gives further information to parents to help answer questions about the Mass. Be sure and check out the "Click to Look Inside" here on the Amazon page. There you will find the first 21 pages of the book.

After Church one day, my five year old daughter (who was normally very restless in church) told me that she didn't get what was going on during Mass. This prompted us to look for a children's book that explains the Mass. We actually stumbled across this book from a small ad on one of the papers we got from her vacation bible school.

The book and accompanying DVD did a great job going thru the sections of the Mass in a very entertaining and kid friendly way that did a great job explaining what is going on. My daughter brings the book with her to Church and is able to follow along and it keeps her occupied. She will ask when to turn the page. After the first Mass she brought it to after getting it, she remarked to me that she was surprised how quickly the Mass went.

I would definitely recommend this book for kids from 5 to 8 years old.

This is the most amazing children's book and DVD on the Mass that I have ever seen. I bought it for my 10 grandchildren age 8 and under, and they absolutely love it! They will sit and watch the DVD with the book in hand over and over. It explains the entire Mass to children in a very entertaining, but educational way. I also teach First Holy Communion and think it will be a great tool to use to teach them about the most wonderful and most important gift that we will ever receive....The Most Holy Eucharist in the Mass!!

I chose this book because of the good reviews. I have foster children in my home who have never been to a Catholic Mass, so this book is great at explaining the different parts of mass, and why we do what we do. The words are easy or kids to understand and also holds their attention. If you are catholic and have children, this is a must have book!

All of the books in the Big Al series are wonderful. Children will love them. Parents will love the pages that aide them in explaining the stories to their children. The Big Al DVDs are great too.

I bought this for my 5-year-old granddaughter because her older brother was making his First Communion. The style is fun and colorful without being flip and disrespectful. It addresses questions that kids will have about what is going on at Mass.

Great book to get kids interested in going to Mass and to get them to participate and understand what is going on. A great buy!
