A fox in pursuit of a wise little duck learns the hard way why she lives exactly where she does. Books for People with Print Disabilities. Internet Archive Books.

A duck in a peaceful pond is approached one day by a fox who invites her for breakfast (and of course, she's the main dish!). Realizing this, the foxy duck sends the fox off on errands to get a table, dishes, and finally a table cloth. As her final stroke of foxiness, the duck has the fox wave the table cloth to prove that it is big enough and this brings the bull, who has been there in the background all along, charging and chasing the fox away for good.

This is a clever plot, and a book my nephew wanted read to him over and over and over. He loved it!
Fox is hungry, spies a duck. Duck is clever and aware of fox's plan. The trickery and surprise ending are very enjoyable.

My 2 1/2 year old son really enjoys this book.

The repetition of the fox running across the field, under the fence and down to the lane each time is very engaging and relaxing. The paintings of the woodcutter's hut, potter's shed, and washer woman's yard are all very rustic and interesting to look at. And the look of discouragement on the poor fox's face each time he misses his meal again is priceless! He really seems to deserve it after stealing things from everybody.

I like this book and the way it show children that it takes clever thinking to overcome a potential hardship.
