The latter is a Netflix Christmas animation, and its inclusion is a big surprise. It's his first since 1993, when he was up twice (and won for Scent of a Woman). Sir Anthony Hopkins has his first nomination since 1998, and his fifth overall, for The Two Popes

Sir Anthony Hopkins has his first nomination since 1998, and his fifth overall, for The Two Popes. Tom Hanks was once Mr Oscar and has won twice, but remarkably his nomination for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood is his first nod since 2001 (for Cast Away). Renee Zellweger is favourite to scoop best actress for playing Judy Garland in Judy - her first nomination since she was shortlisted for three years in a row from 2002-04.

I thrive on ideas and dusty old books, deep conversations away from the party, and on things like planning a trip to Chicago just to see an art exhibit. I live in the quiet spaces and double yellow lines away from home, and I want so badly for someone to join me there. I break all the writing.

Love her or hate her, Katie Hopkins is impossible to ignore, and this hilarious and revealing new book – part memoir, part handbook for the modern woman – is much the same

My grandson enjoys the poetry in this book which is used in his home schooling. We bought it for his personal use even though it was provided by his school.
  • Hinewen
My 5 year old daughter reads this poetry book over and over, and although the poems were simple and appealing, many of them used literary devices such as similes, metaphors, and personification that I was able to introduce to her.
  • Quinthy
i bought the book to replace a library book. the library would not accept it because it was a library book, even though it was discarded. but other wise it was great.
  • Visonima
An unassuming collection of easy to read poetry for early readers. Simple, short, rhyming poems sorted into sections such as pets, vehicles, weather, etc. A variety of mostly known poets such as X.J. Kennedy, Aileen Fisher, Carl Sandburg and Dorothy Aldis are collected. The book doesn't have a table of contents but makes up for that with an index of authors and titles. I found the illustrations to be lacklustre but otherwise a decent book of poems that suffices as an easy reader.
  • Simple fellow
I bought this little collection of poems for next year when my oldest son will be in Grade 2. The poems are so simple and sweet, some funny and all with really cute illustrations. A great way to introduce poetry to young children!

Easy read. Required for my son's 2nd grade home-school curriculum. He wasn't too interested but got his assignment done and over with.
He's still more into picture books than chapterbooks and grayscale books like this one.
