Many books attempt to introduce the biblical world to children with a mix of text and colorful illustrations. The glory of it comes in the plentiful two-page illustrations, spreads that are at once panoramic and loaded with detail. From "Abraham: A Nomad in Canaan" and "The Tabernacle in the Wilderness" to "Jerusalem in the Time of Pilate," they invite exploration. I can't wait to sit down with this book and our grandkids. I have other products by this company. The quality is good. Gave it to my friend for Christmas and she was very happy with it. It was on her wish list.

This is a high quality book with great potential, but the content falls far short of my expectations and standards for religious writings. While my kids (ages 7 and 8) enjoy the illustrations and diagrams, the tone promotes skepticism and doubt. Rather than presenting the Bible as the inerrant Word of God, this book portrays it as a mere collection of stories -- fictitious tales, myths and traditions. That's fine, if you don't believe the Bible to be true, but unacceptable to me and for my family.

In addition to the condescending tone, I take issue with some of the content. Even possessing a Bachelor of Science in Bible, I have never seen some of the things presented in this book. This is not to say that they're wrong, only that elements of the content are not commonly accepted by mainstream Christianity.

This book could prove valuable in specific instances and within certain families, but I recommend parental guidance and discretion. Readers may also want to confer with other resources to verify the content's validity.
