Here are 3 lessons to show you what kind of American politics Barack Obama believes in: All Americans are united by two central beliefs: freedom and community. Obama says the US missed a real chance when they didn’t change their foreign policy from the ground up after 9/11. Instead of accepting that not states, but ideologies are what threaten countries today, the country dug out its Cold War policy, only focusing on smaller enemies instead of the Soviet Union. The Audacity of Hope is a 2006 autobiographical work by Barack Obama. The audacity of hope : thoughts on reclaiming the American dream. New York: Crown Publishers. Someone once said that every man is trying to either live up to his father's expectations or make up for his father's mistakes, and I suppose that may explain my particular malady as well as anything else.

After discovering the secret of Area 51 and the truth behind the deaths of John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe, the President of the United States is transported into the future, where he finds a new America in which hunger, poverty, unemployment and disease no longer exist, and science has been restored to its rightful place. These changes are attributed to a mysterious, charismatic leader called Thy One, who came to power following events known as “The Great Man-Caused Disaster” and “The Overseas Contingency Operation”. As the President learns more about this future America, he becomes increasingly troubled by the reality that resides behind the gilded facade. Fearing for his life, the President must get back to his own time and find a way to rewrite history. But is it already too late? Is it even possible to change a future that you have already experienced? What if the only way to save a remnant of humanity is to accept defeat and allow your enemy to destroy the world? This timely story of faith, hope and change is a tale of two Americas. Both are real. Only one will prevail. THE AUDACITY OF HOPE AND CHANGE draws inspiration from the works of George Orwell, Jonathan Swift, and Agatha Christie, in a rich and unique blend of science fiction, political satire and mystery, combined into a compelling story of the struggle for supremacy between two mutually exclusive world views. Like a rafting trip, sometimes rushing over white water rapids, sometimes flowing leisurely with the strong, still current, this book carries the reader inexorably toward the climactic, Poirot-esque final encounter between the President and his nemesis.

A gripping read, this political science fiction novel will have you reading as fast as possible to see what happens next. With insightful politics, it almost seems prophetic at times, and an occasional dash of humor compliments the seriousness. This exceptional book is a must-read for political and sci-fi reader alike.

Set in the not-so-distant future, the President of the United States uncovers the secret of Area 51, an alien space ship, and a door to the future, 2084 to be exact. The remaining world exists in domed cities under the Supreme Ruler, the final President. Governed by the infallible edicts of "science," the Socialistic society seems almost Utopian: no hunger, no poverty, no unemployment and lots of productivity. However, not everything is as it seems, and the President comes back to the present with a mission: to save the world from a nuclear war, and find out if the future can still be changed.

Very interesting. The author has certainly been keeping up with what's going on. The political side of the book is spot on. If you're a sci-fi buff, then you will like this book. It really makes you work your brain though. I recommend it highly.

I really enjoyed reading about where socialism and big government could take us. Nicely organized for a fast read. Now to go vote accordingly.

A highly entertaining political satire/dystopia/sci-fi book. A successful conservative president travels to the future (2084, get it? it's by no means subtle) and finds his beloved country transformed into a horrific dystopia. Now he must battle forces within his present time who have caused this future society to come about, while staying within the constraints imposed by time travel paradoxes. A tall order, indeed. The sidetracking discussions of political philosophy should have been cut out by a better editor, and constant references to real present day individuals and political campaigns are amusing but in the end limiting to the life span of this work. Nevertheless, the cautionary tale is compelling, the satire biting, and the ending clever and elegant. Recommended for political junkies and sci-fi fans alike.

How many of your emotions do you expect to be touched when you read fiction? "The Audacity of Hope and Change" will touch most of them in one way or another. Interested in science fiction? How about politics? Time travel? Perhaps you should take a gander at this book. These topics and more combine in this one bold and thought-provoking novel to set you on your own trip around the political universe, in its own Orwellian/Star Trekkian/Star Warsian way. As I come to the end of it, I wonder...maybe this author should consider running for president of the United States of America. (Oh, and by the way, I will never look at the word "declassify" the same again.)
