Dieting is extremely stressful on your body

Dieting is extremely stressful on your body. Sep 15, 2017 · 6 min read. Many think that as little as 6 to 8 weeks is enough before dieting again, but the truth is that it takes much longer than this. A History of Extreme Dieting. It’s a sad fact of fitness that many people undertake extreme diets year after year and get into a cycle of trying to be lean all the time. For those who’ve just dieted to get beach ready or lose a few pounds for an event, and aside from feeling a little hungry haven’t felt too exhausted or downtrodden, 3 months might do it. Your best bet is to reverse for as long as you can without adding excess body fat.

Keep in mind that losing weight takes time and not everyone can look like a fitness model. If you wish to lose weight and keep it off in the long term, focus on adopting healthier lifestyle habits. 20. You're Too Focused on Dieting. Diets almost never work in the long term. If anything, studies actually show that people who diet gain more weight over time (42). Instead of approaching weight loss from a dieting mindset, make it your primary goal to become a happier, healthier and fitter person. Focus on nourishing your body instead of depriving it, and let weight loss follow as a natural side effect. Weight loss is not always easy and numerous factors can bring it to a standstill.

You've probably heard that losing weight is the easy part - it's keeping it off that's difficult . And while that's not necessarily true (losing weight in and of itself takes hard work and dedication!), it is true that most people who lose weight will gain it back and start a cycle. If you want to change yourself from the neck down, you need to change from the neck up. Almost everyone (unless there are medical reasons) can follow any diet--from the unhealthiest wacky one out there, to the very best health conscious one and lose weight. In fact many of us already have done that--so much so that we are repeat offenders. So why is that we can lose weight and for many of us, the weight comes back. I think that its because weight is the result of something else that is going on. This book supplies the missing piece in a easy to follow, easy to read format.
I only wish that I had come upon it sooner. The book helps provide the missing piece to a more integrative approach. While we are moving more, eating less, and making wiser food selections, we can't forget about our mind and spirit. We are made up of body, mind, and spirit-- all 3 need to be addressed to break free from overweight issues and not have them come back to haunt us. There is no one easy answer.

Doreen does not mess around with the situation of over eating, yet portrays kindness & empathy for the different kinds of weight challenges.
But I need to be honest....what inside me from an emotional/spiritual situation is being hidden by my eating pleasues/weight.
(if you have the hypothyroid condition too.....well , I know I many times use that as an excuse)
Doreen's book just makes real sense to me, and gets to the Heart of the matter, backing it up with the option that with this issue too...you can ask for real help.
Happily, I am already noticing a difference with attitude.

This is a psychological approach to weight and eating. It is differnt than any other Diet Book because it focuses on emotions and why you eat and more importantly about the issues that cause you to eat. If you can deal with the issues and emotions on your own then this book will deffinetly work for you. I am a great advocate of Doreen Virtue and her work and loved this book. I believe that it has given me the tools I need to stop eating when I am stressed. Thank you Doreen.

I loved the first half of this book but not much of the rest. There were some great points and tips and I definitely highlighted a lot but my problem with it is that it just turned into any other 'diet' book. Food portions, exercise, positive thinking and motivation. I mean, this has all been written about before, countless times. I guess I was just expecting something different from Doreen, something that addresses more deep-rooted issues and comes from a spiritual standpoint. All in all, some good info but I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone looking for something new.

This book provides a great explanation of many of the causes of compulsive overeating, and I enjoyed those parts of the book. However, the advice for overcoming this issue is fairly weak. Everyone knows to eat less and exercise more -- it's nothing new. This book's only innovation comes from Virtue's insistence that the secret to freedom from compulsive eating is to find one's true life purpose, but that's much easier said than done.

This book has been a revelation! It helped me a lot. I lost 50 pounds in 9 months, and I've stayed like that for that same amount of time. Now I feel in control of my emotions, my anxiety is completely gone. My relationship with food has become healthy and I'm glad and proud of myself. Thank you very much!
This book for me was instrumental in changing my attitude about my diet, exercise and learning to have faith in myself again. Thank you, Doreen! I have read and loved many of her books and highly recommend them.
