This letter was written by James Joyce to his patron Harriet Shaw Weaver on 24 June 1921. Joyce was responding to a letter from Weaver, in which she explained that she had been told by Wyndham Lewis and Robert McAlmon that Joyce was drinking heavily. The task I set myself technically in writing a book from eighteen different points of view and in as many styles, all apparently unknown or undiscovered by my fellow tradesme. arriet Shaw Weaver Papers.
