Warren Ellis (Author), Cully Hamner (Illustrator). I grabbed Ellis's RED after finding out it was the original source for the movies - of which I very much enjoyed (big Bruce Willis fan).

Warren Ellis (Author), Cully Hamner (Illustrator). The art is crisp and the story is simple. CIA operator is VERY good at his job, wants to retire, but knows too much so must be silenced.

Cully Hamner is an American comic book artist, known for his work on such books as Green Lantern: Mosaic, Blue Beetle, Black Lightning: Year One, and Detective Comics. He is also the co-creator and illustrator of the 2003 graphic novel Red, which was adapted into a 2010 feature film of the same name starring Bruce Willis, as well as a 2013 sequel. Cully Hamner was born March 7, 1969 in Huntsville, Alabama. He graduated from Albert P. Brewer High School in Somerville, Alabama.

Warren Ellis bibliography. He is a resident of Southend-on-Sea, England. Red (with Cully Hamner, Homage, 2003). Two-Step (with Amanda Conner, 2003) collected as Two-Step (tpb, 128 pages, 2010, ISBN 1-4012-2887-9).

Moreover, Cully Hamner's artwork is dazzling in this book. Stuff that you can stare at for longer than imaginable. Very clean, very crisp, and very concise, just what the book needs. The abruptness of the book seems like a trend for Ellis' work with Wildstorm, as Desolation Jones also had an abrupt ending after eight issues. I can agree that the book COULD'VE been longer, but at the same time, I look back at all of my English Lit. classes where they said that cutting out the fluff and getting to the basics of a story is what keeps a story memorable and great.

RED (2010) - John Malkovich and Bruce Willis Interview - Продолжительность: 1:43 Novidades Cinema - Movie News Recommended for you. 1:43.

Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner's bloody depiction of a dangerous retired CIA operative is definitely not subtle. Page after page is filled with new and creative ways to kill someone. Hamner does a great job on art. Everything is clear, bright, and dynamic. My issues with it were it was much too short. There weren't many characters, but they still could have used a lot more work

I grabbed Ellis's RED after finding out it was the original source for the movies - of which I very much enjoyed (big Bruce Willis fan). The art is crisp and the story is simple. CIA operator is VERY good at his job, wants to retire, but knows too much so must be silenced. Of course, Paul Moses is able to REACH retirement because he's VERY good at his job; and not appreciating trying to be killed, takes it out on the CIA. Without giving away the books ending, I felt it was just getting started! I was just getting into it and BOOM! the book ends??

Now it really seems this is a book in search of a sequel, but the 1st part of the ride was pretty cool. A good buy if you can get a deal on it.

too short, nothing like I would picture the movie to be (did not see it). There would be no place for a classy old babe like Helen Mirren in this book.

Excellent story, about the world's best killer. Moses is forced from retirement by an appointed political flunky who's afraid of the world ever learning an operative like Moses exists. If your only exposure to this character is through the movie then you MUST read this book. You'll discover a deeper insight into the assassin who's so deadly that the CIA classified him R.E.D. (Retired Extremely Dangerous).

This is a great comic book. If you saw the movie and want to read the comic, be aware, this comic tells a story slightly similar to the movie but amazingly different in its structure. You have the ex-CIA being chased and its vendetta against the company, that's all.
The tale told here is amazing, is a story about a man that had only one purpose when active and after the retirement wanted to be left alone, that's all. You understand his morals, his trainning and his mind. It's more about the psychological state of someone that killed all his life than the killings or the vendetta.
It is a great comic book, amazing writing and drawing, and something that should be read by everyone who's interested in comics.
But it's not the movie, not at all.

The movie (admittedly brain candy) is all about the characters and the fun interplay between them. This book is far grittier and the main character is a 'haunted and blood thirst killer'. It isn't a bad graphic novel, but don't buy it if you are first a fan of the movie.

Great little character study of a retired killer. Completely redone for the movie, but Malkovich was inspired casting for the main character.
classic warren ellis, much better than the movie.
