One of the movers and shakers of the Christian Reconstructionist movement and an open theocrat, DeMar is an author, lecturer and also the president of the cult American Vision, an American Christian organization. The vision of this think-tank is "an America that recognizes the sovereignty of God over all of life and where Christians are engaged in every facet of society. This means that Biblical law must be made the foundation of all righteous judgment in every government: personal (self government), ecclesiastical, familial, and civil.

Nearly forty years ago, amid the rapid dissolution of the American moral fabric after Roe v. Wade, an old truth started gaining new life in America. It was the truth that had once made America great, but one which she had forgotten-that the Bible is not a collection of disconnected moralisms for private application, but rather a comprehensive guide for all of life, a blueprint for the private and public conduct of all individuals and nations. In 1982, the three-volume God and Government series fanned the flames of this national worldview awakening, establishing that the character of a nation and its people depends on their relationship with God as revealed in Holy Scripture. Relying on clear historical and biblical research, author Gary DeMar demonstrated how America had been great and how she could be great again. The series quickly became a staple in the Christian curriculum. For decades, in the hands of countless teachers, parents, and students, the books educated minds young and old in the Christian history of America, the origin and foundation of government, the biblical principles of authority, and the basis and necessity of Christian political activism. But the work of reviving America is far from finished, and Americans need to hear-now more than ever-the biblical and historical truths explained in God and Government. Now thirty years later, American Vision has thoroughly renovated, revised, and updated Gary DeMar's monumental work into this beautiful one-volume hardback. With a fresh new look, more images, an extensive subject and scripture index, and an updated bibliography, God and Government is ready to prepare a whole new generation to take on the political and religious battles confronting Christians today. May it be used in a new awakening of Christians in America-not just to inform minds, but to stimulate action and secure a better tomorrow for our posterity.

This is a foundational book for understanding the role of government—personal, family and civil—in today's world. It is easy to read, well-thought out, and soundly argued. Gary DeMar breaks down the biblical role of civil government and argues that America was founded as a Christian nation. While that does not mean every founding father was a Christian, it does mean Christianity influenced the air everyone breathed at that time, so that the Constitution and arrangement of civil government was based on biblical standards. I would recommend this to every American today as a great primer on understanding American history and the role of government in a Christian worldview.

Excellent information from a biblical world view. This is what students need to learn to know the truth about America's constitutional republic. Too bad government (aka public) schools put a cloak of darkness over the truth.

Best history program I ever did with my homeschooling children. It's not simple, but very thought provoking and Biblically based. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a deeper look into our government and history.

This is a great series and I highly recommend it for Christians or others who say they hate politics. Politics, especially for Christians, should be closely followed and acted upon when elected leaders go against the will of God. We have been lax and indifferent for far too long.

This book should be used in all public schools.

Every American should read this book. It as a simple explanation of our government exercising powers beyond their entitlements.
Somehow we being led away from God by this society in general. Starting with our media, motion picture industry, television, Internet, pornography, the homosexual agenda, etc.
We have somehow become estranged from the Bible, which is the only true book written, even though it is difficult to comprehend. Many times the revelation will not be given or received because of the hardness of their hearts. (God is the only being that can read your heart)
So people will condemn, distrust, or claim inconsistency, with the writings.
We must remember the Magisterium of the Catholic Church, that wrote the New Testament, and is guided by the Holy Spirit with all their writings
cannot error.
Jesus established one Church (The Catholic Church) when he said to Peter, you are rock and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it.

This is an excellent book and scripture filled resource for anyone who want to really learn about the foundations of governance. Specifically what God has to say about many topics.
Best book available on this topic. Good update of the previous work.
