Early European personifications of America, meaning the Americas, typically come from sets of the Four Continents, all that were then known in Europe. These were: Europe, Asia, Africa, and America. The addition of America made these an even more attractive group to represent visually, as sets of four could be placed around all sorts of four-sided objects, or in pairs along the facade of a building with a central doorway.

23 Jan 2013 - A selection of books about America, mostly about American history. Image Now Identity This is the identity scheme for Image Now Design Consultants and for Image Now Films. I had triple laminated paper specially made, so that for films there is an edge of zesty green and for design there is an edge of vibrant orange, one side was black the other white, attention to detail was key throughout. This work was completed while working at Image Now under the creative direction of Aiden Grennelle. 1923 Ford Hood Ornament 2 by Jill Reger.

Since the development of photography in the mid-nineteenth century, the camera has been used as a tool of both discovery and preservation. Photographs bring alive our image of the past and can open a floodgate of memories and nostalgia or inspire curiosity and a sense of history. In this fascinating visual history we see Worcester through the eyes of those who have lived, worked, and played there for the last 120 years. We are led on a journey down Main Street of the past, and watch it grow and expand along with the surrounding community. The people who make up the heart of this community are here as well; while daily life has changed a great deal over the last century, the pride and passion for life characteristic of the people of Worcester remain strong to this day.

I am doing genealogy work on my family so I was extremely interested in this book. It did not disappoint me. I was sooo excited to see the trolley car on the cover. My grandfather started out as a conductor on the trolleys. In fact, the man on the left on the cover looks very much like a young Harry J. Friberg.

Worcester, Massachusetts, while well known to those in the center of the state, is a city ignored by many. This selection of pictures and text gives those who live here and new visitors a great look into the past. The city developed with an immigrant population and has continued to grow with each decade. The photographs here give readers a glimpse into an engaging past. While many people in the state consider only the areas around Boston as important, this author proves them wrong. Pictures are rich, text is illuminating; the combination is an excellent work. Keep an eye out for "Worcester, Vol.2." Don't pass this selection by....you will regret your folly!!!
