I recommend using this book + the Clep Collegeboard.com 10 dollar clep US history II PDF study guide (it has 96 practice questions) + the free crash course us history videos on youtube.com + various free us history phone apps + quiz-let clep us history II practice questions/terms + the cram app+ any free clep us history 2 practice test or terms you can find on google or quiz-let. I used all of that and passed with a 65. You really need a 50 to pass. I had to study over Christmas break and had 3 weeks to study which I did everyday.

I also recommend buying a US history II college text book on amazon just so you can get the general information. Get the older text books since they sell for 0.01 on amazon and have the same information as the new college text books. I didn't use a US history used text book but I just recommend that since it would save time. I had to look up a lot of the information on the internet.

In summary this book used with other resources helps. The more practice questions you do the better you will score. This book/CD has 240 practice questions. The practice questions in the book are the same as the ones on the CD. I recommend using the CD to get used to answering timed computer test questions. There are other books on amazon with more practice questions. I bought this one since it cost less. Just don't use this book without using other resources with it.

This is a really good resource book for this test. I also used the CLEP handout printed from their site which is an additional $10. All you need is a 50 and I got a 54; I studied for 3 weeks but with passion! My test had questions about authors not address in my 2 study references so I was lost on 3 questions. I had to know dates and a lot of question about political parties; that information was covered so I did well. Also lot of questions on the different programs and which president created them. I had 2 questions that I had to put the earliest event first but out of the 5 events I only knew 2 so probably missed that one too. If possible use other sources since my 2 showed there was more information I missed out on.

I don't usually take the time to write reviews but I'll write one about this book. I know that there aren't many CLEP prep books-which is bullcrap- but if you search you will find some resources. I passed the test with a 60 with the help of this book, Peterson's practice timed clep exams ( http://www.petersons.com/college-search/clep-test.aspx), videos on U.S. history http://www.hippocampus.org/HippoCampus/History%20%26%20Government (These videos are ESPECIALLY GREAT if you don't remember too much about U.S. history with Native Americans.) and concentrated quizes on small sections of U.S. History http://www.historyteacher.net/USQuizMainPage.htm (this helped me the most). The best thing about this book is that it goes over major events in history in a concise manner, and gives you a generalized overview of what happened during each time period. In addition-their recommended study schedule is particularly helpful, this prep book is an awesome guide book for passing the exam. Now using this book alone will NOT help you pass the test-unless of course you're an absolute wiz in U.S. history and you need a light refresher, and the author states this in the book. Rather, this book was an essential supplement to my entire study regime. It is a HELL of alot more useful than the book collegeboard offers. Btw save yourself the ten dollars and simply purchase the practice exam from college board. The actual book offers the exact same clep practice test and only goes over the nature of every CLEP exam. A waste of friggin paper ( why would I want to know information about every single clep exam....-_- who takes all of them?) I used this book and the resources I listed below, studied for 4 weeks and passed. Most Clep prep books talk about how to take the test for over 300 pages and only offer two practice exams. This book however is definitely one of the best test preps out there and an essential component of my entire study regime. And an additional plus-it's pretty small and easy to carry in your bag so you can sudy on the go. Whats not to love?

This was the last clep exam I had to take to complete my bachelors degree. The book was great and definitely assisted me in passing this test, however as another review noted, there are a handful of questions that are not mentioned in the book. I think one other reviewer mentioned the question "what river was Mark Twain a river boat boat captain on?" I still don't know even though I attempted to look it up before the test so that was a pretty obscure question. There are also many questions about authors and famous literary works of the time. I thought it was a relatively easy test though, I only studied for approximately two days. I read the book once and took both practice exams twice.

I passed the test with a 54, not great but I passed and that was my goal. Had I studied more of course I would have scored better but I only needed a 50 for credit as my University does not assign a letter grade and it is pass/fail. For the amount of time I put into studying...I was satisfied with the outcome.

I have passed 11 clep exams in two years, while taking full time classes by using nothing but the REA clep books!! I am so grateful for them because obviously the exams are significant time and money savers.

I took the American History II CLEP -- my second exam this year and third overall -- three days ago and aced it with a 62. Though U.S. History is one of my favorite subjects, I only scored a 51 on the online practice test before I picked up the study guide. Indeed, the REA study guide was a welcome refresher for things that I'd forgotten. It's important to remember that there are different versions of each CLEP exam, with equally different levels of difficulty, so it's tough (if not impossible) for any one guide to cover everything that could possibly be on a test. Nevertheless, I'm confident that the REA brand of CLEP study guides WILL help get you that 50 and above when used properly.
