all my sons like this series

The artwork is very well done in these (personal opinion)... our son loves these. Its a bit pricey for the number of pages you get.. and most history buffs will already know how the story ends.. but great visuals just the same.

I had a student who was a reluctant reader who wanted to study d day. This graphic novel brought history alive for this young man. And yes, the graphic novel is a legit genre of text!

Bought this for my obsessed 7 year old son. He enjoyed it very much. While a comic book, it is serious history and well balanced. It is very expensive, no doubt due to the heavy duty library binding.

My kid loves it.

Ok for a 12 to 10 age group.

This shameful bunch of horrible drawings, wrote by a person who has slight idea about military history, makes this graphic novel one of the worst attempts to pay homage to this battle. I can't even describe how far from the real thing is this so-called book. Mr Dharma is as an artist a rarity: not only his drawings are badly done since they lack grace, expression or dynamism. All of them smack of a quick done work, with scant interest other than getting money for it. I hope that, at least, he did not get much. I have 9000 comic books and several bookshelves with titles about this battle, so please accept my opinion: try to put your children or students far from this graphic horror, unless you want them to hate history, comic books or this battle.
The publisher's suggested reading age for this book is 9-12, and I agree. My 6-year old brought this home from the school library. He is an advanced reader and can read and understand the words, but he is too young to comprehend the detailed military strategy and violence involved in telling the true story. It is certainly a compelling book, and an excellent vehicle for teaching history -- to a 9-12 year old. I would just prefer to leave it on the shelf for a few years and maybe get a book about military uniforms or trucks for my kindergartener instead.
