I'm a hobby knife maker and a friend suggested this book as a resource to answer the hundreds of questions that arise. The book arrived on time and was as described by the seller. If you are interested in making knives or learning how to maintain them and sharpen them, this is a must read book. Thanks-

This book is definitely an essential part of every knife-maker's library. Be aware that this book covers a single method of knife making. That's fine, just expect to look around for some more instructional material if you want to forge any blades, make Damascus blades, swords, etc. This is an excellent instruction manual on the method that Boye uses.

Great book for the beginning knife maker. When starting out, anything that has a lot of pictures is great. This one has it. The author does a good job of speaking to you as though you weren't an expert knife maker.

Bought this book because I was curious about the steps involved crafting knives. Very comprehensive and informative, I haven't made my own knifes yet, but I feel like after having read this book I could get started making knives with the knowledge to be able to make one that would be usable and if its something I enjoy could open up a potential hobby for me as if I need another hobby... Ha!

If you are newbie making knives, this should be the first book to read on the subject. The author recommends to read the book cover to cover like a novel and I am glad I did. The book is well written and the illustrations are clear. The pictures are black and white since the first edition was printed in the 1970s but that does not change the wealth of information that is contained on this book.

This is a really good book on the subject. I love the fact that Boye likes to use scrap steel and turn that into knives. He uses the stock removal method instead of forging. This book is just a wealth of information and I recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about knife making. It is true that Boye mainly makes chef knives, but all this information can be used to make any kind of knife that is made by the stock removal method. Enjoy.

Good book for learning and understanding of one perspective. Though the author does do things differently than quite a bit of other books I've read, but its good to see alternative methods. Wouldn't recommend this book alone as a way to learn knifemaking, but would be a great addition to 1 or more other tutorial books.
Amazing book... it's what got me started into knofe making all those years ago
