Gosh I love Ada Cambridge. At the moment I'm feeling that special kind of excitement that comes of discovering a wonderful new (to you) author who has written a pile of books that are just waiting for you to read them. Sisters is a remarkably pragmatic look at marriage at the turn of the (19th/20th) century in Australia. It is also a fascinating insight into class prejudices at the time, in that (view spoiler)[the one truly happy marriage is dismissed as an utter disaster simply because the Gosh I love Ada Cambridge.
Ada Cambridge (21 November 1844 – 19 July 1926), later known as Ada Cross, was an English-born Australian writer. She wrote more than 25 works of fiction, three volumes of poetry and two autobiographical works. Many of her novels were serialised in Australian newspapers but never published in book form She later reverted to her maiden name, Ada Cambridge, and that is how she is known today.
