A Chinese author breathes life into China's monumental history in an evocative family saga that follows the Li and Bai clans as they experience romance, betrayal, intrigue, and power struggles in 1920s pre-communist China. 12,500 first printing.

I never cared about any of these characters or their clans.

It's a great book to see what China was like before and durring the communist take over. Also, it's a great story that pulls you in to the Bai and Li familys. The family tree in the front of the book can be helpful. I feel bad for winterset though.
