THIS IS A PRETTY FAIR BOOK. IT STARTS OF SLOW AND DOESN'T PICK UP UNTIL ABOUT THE MIDDLE OF THE BOOK. IT IS NOT A "HOOK AND DRAW" WESTERN. HOWEVER, THERE IS A "GOOD GUY-BAD GUY" PLOT. THERE IS MUCH TOO MUCH "DESCRIBING" EVERYTHING, GOING ON. I KIND OF LOST INTEREST DURING SOME OF THIS DESCRIBING. THREE STARS MIGHT BE STRETCHING IT A LITTLE, BUT, ON THE OTHER HAND, YOU MIGHT REALLY LIKE IT. IT DOES GET BETTER TOWARDS THE END. HAPPY READING.

Dan was a small horse rancher with a wife and two children, he was busy building fence and barn. H e was in town when the local merchant was killed. Three cowboys were there at the time of killing. The cowboys did want Dan to say anything,,they set his bar on fire and his wife Molly was killed , he looked for revenge.

Very enjoyable book. Held my interest from the first chapter till the end. Story starts out and grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let up. Reminds me of some of the books by Ray Hogan, one of the best in my book. Try a Bill Dugan Book and you will ask for more.

good story of the old west. I live in the west and in my mind's eye I kept saying "I've been there" or "so that is how it got its name" I now live in modern Tucson. What a rough town it was back in the 1800's
