Joan Jonker was born and bred in Liverpool. Home Is Where The Heart Is. The Pride Of Polly Perkins.

Joan Jonker was born and bred in Liverpool. Her childhood was a time of love and laughter with her two sisters, a brother, a caring but gambling father and an indomitable mother who was always getting them out of scrapes. Then came the Second World War when she met and fell in love with her husband, Tony. For twenty-three years, Joan campaigned tirelessly on behalf of victims of violence, and it was during this time that she turned to writing fiction. Sadly, after a brave battle against illness, Joan died in February 2006.

Joan Jonker's saga, Home is Where the Heart Is, brings to life a close-knit Liverpudlian community, in the final instalment of the Eileen Gillmoss series. Perfect for fans of Katie Flynn and Dilly Court. loved by her legions of fans' - Liverpool Echo. When fun-loving, eighteen-stone Eileen Gillmoss announces that she's expecting a baby, her husband Bill thinks it's another one of her jokes. After all, it's twelve years since Edna, their youngest, was born.

What readers are saying about Home is Where the Heart Is: 'From the first page you are drawn into this wonderful woman's life and family as if you belong there. Joan Jonker creates a web of family crises and tragedies mixed with the never flagging spirit of Eileen Gilmoss to keep you hungry for more'.

Home Is Where The Hear. Joan Jonker's writting draws you into the book from the word go and you actually feel as if you are sitting in Molly Bennett's living room with her throughout the book. Great story telling, warm, often funny and heartbreaking too. Apparently there is a follow on to this book which I plan to read shortly, just hope it is as enjoyable a read.

When fun-loving, eighteen-stone Eileen Gillmoss announces that she's expecting a baby, her husband Bill thinks it's another one of her jokes. But when it sinks in that a baby really is on the way, Bill is over the moon and decides that the family should move out of their two-up, two-down house in Liverpool to one with more spacious accommodation. Eileen digs her heels in at first, reluctant to leave the house she loves and friends and neighbours so dear.

Have all Joan jonker books just can't put them down. Amazing talented writer. This book is the 3rd in the series and they have all been very good Eileen is the heart and sole of the family with her sense of humour I didn't want to put it down. If looking for a great rest you won't go wrong with this.

When fun-loving, eighteen-stone Eileen Gillmoss announces that she's expecting a baby, her husband Bill thinks it's another one of her jokes. After all, it's twelve years since Edna, their youngest, was born. But a scare early in Eileen's pregnancy strengthens Bill's resolve to provide a more comfortable home for his wife. Before Eileen knows what's hit her, she's installed in a smart home with posh new neighbours. Then tragedy strikes and Eileen must come to terms with a loss far greater than leaving behind her beloved neighbourhood. She tries to put on a brave face, but she can't fool the people who love her, who miss the smile on that round, chubby face and the laughter ringing through her house. They vow to make amends and fate steps in to lend a helping hand...

This was easy reading. So true to daily life with its ups and downs. Moving home, illness, death and marriage. Most of all it was supported with strong love, which keeps families together.

Not much to say, all her books are ok, I like the fact that they have no bad language or unnecessary sex scenes.
