The season of Lent challenges us to consciously enter into a process of changing, to let go of selfish attitudes.

A novel set in the not too distant future when the continuing series of crises have brought the great commercial-industrial society to its knees. It is a world of plagues and famine, where diebacks are everyday affairs, and where trust between men is a scarce commodity. By the middle of the twenty-first century there is not much left of organised society. In this world of endless wars, plagues, famines and rebellions, three secret underground survival habitats have been set up with the objective of preserving the core knowledge of civilisation. A group of ex-astronauts, finding evidence of the existence of the centres, embark upon a strange journey across a ruined and barren landscape to find each of the sites, a journey which takes them from the mountains of southern Patagonia to the Australian outback by way of North America, a long hazardous journey where they meet enemies and friend, and which will change them and the future of the world forever.
