Soon after her fifth birthday Amy is found to have leukemia and undergoes chemotherapy at St .Jude Children's Research Hospital. Sympathetic support from friends and efforts from doctors and nurses culminate in cure of the leukemia. Months after recovery from leukemia Amy becomes ill again.
