What a perfect summer pleasure Elin Hilderbrand provides in Nantucket Nights, mixing the complexities of family life and friendship with suspense, romance, and moonlit Nantucket nights.

What a perfect summer pleasure Elin Hilderbrand provides in Nantucket Nights, mixing the complexities of family life and friendship with suspense, romance, and moonlit Nantucket nights. Nancy Thayer, author of Custody. Dips deep into Peyton Place country. Ms. Hilderbrand paints a picture of idyllic Nantucket life that slowly starts to unravel as the ugly underbelly is revealed.

Elin Hilderbrand's Nantucket Nights (after The Beach Club) digs into the private lives of three middle-aged women Kayla, Val and Antoinette. For 20 years, they have made annual midnight excursions to the beach to drink champagne, skinny-dip and swap confidences, until one night Antoinette disappears into the surf and doesn't return. Kayla, Antoinette, and Val are a trio whose unlikely friendship was formed 20 years ago when they each rented a room in the same house. Val and Kayla were fast friends, but, despite Kayla's persistence, Antoinette kept her distance-until one night when her desire for a midnight swim inaugurated an annual ritual and cemented their bond.

Not her best book but still FANTASTIC! Reading an Elin Hilderbrand novel is like having a delicious confection baking in your oven, on a cold, rainy Nantucket afternoon.

Only 3 left in stock (more on the way). Not her best book but still FANTASTIC! Reading an Elin Hilderbrand novel is like having a delicious confection baking in your oven, on a cold, rainy Nantucket afternoon. This one was like a caramel bundt cake in the oven, as it rose to predicted perfection. The cake was looking good through the oven window, the scent carried throughout the house in anticipation, but just before the timer went off, the cake slumped a little and lost height. Taking it out of the oven, I realized that one ingredient had been mis-measured.

Nantucket Nights - Elin Hilderbrand. When you have a book that deals with the potato chip syndrome, let me know, Kayla said. She heard the other phone in Val’s office ring-no doubt, important business, money to be made. Kayla let her go. I’ll see you tonight. It is December on Nantucket Island-a month of white skies and the first truly cold winds of the winter, a month made bearable by Christmas cheer.

Elin Hilderbrand is the author of The Island, Summer People and The Blue Bistro, among others. She grew up in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, and is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop, where she was a teaching/writing fellow. She lives with her husband, Chip Cunningham, and their two sons in Nantucket, Massachusetts. Библиографические данные. Nantucket Nights: A Novel.

Nantucket Nights book. The ties between women can run as deep as the ocean-but so can.

Nantucket nights - a very good read. This book was different from others, easy to read and engrossing. All in all, definitely worth the time.

The ties between women can run as deep as the ocean-but so can the secrets  . Nantucket nights - a very good read.

Elin Hilderbrand is an American writer mostly of romance novels. Hilderbrand's novels are typically set on and around Nantucket Island where she lives with three children. She was born and raised in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, and was previously a teaching/writing fellow at the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop. The New York Post called Elin Hilderbrand "The queen of summer beach read".

The ties between women can run as deep as the ocean-but so can the secrets. For 20 years, Kayla, Antoinette and Val have performed their own special summer ritual. Once a year, the old friends put aside their daily, separate lives to drink champagne, swap stories and swim naked under the Nantucket stars. But on one of those bonding nights, one of their trio swims out from the shore and doesn't return. After the surviving friends emerge from their grief, they realize that the repercussions of their loss go far beyond their little circle, and they begin to uncover layers of secrets-and their connections to each other-that were never revealed on the beach. What has made their friendship strong now has the power to destroy-their marriages, families, even themselves.

Can't believe how well Elin Hilderbrand understands human nature and the world and the times in which we live. Her knowledge, understanding, education, et. al. is as deep as the deepest well. For somebody who lives on a small island, or for anybody for that matter, she has a world view and a universe of understanding and knowledge. For those of us from The Cape and Islands, she brings back a world and scenes from decades of our lives.

For those of us who grew up with Cumberland Farms, The Cape Cod Mall, the Ferries, Stop Shop, Cape Air, the Summer crowds, the non-moving traffic, the full and jammed parking lots, et. al., Hilderbrand writes in HD big time. If the current version is 4 HD then that is certainly where she is at now. She is unafraid of life and all its dilemmas. Most of us at any age or of any gender have been where her characters are. To paraphrase the old ABC Sports, it is the "human drama of. . .competition." The thrill of agony and the victory of defeat.

Hilderbrand has dug into Nantucket and human nature to beyond their very bedrock.

It still tasted good though and I do love what Hilderbrand cooks up for us on a regular basis.
If you're confused with my analogy, let me explain. I read a bunch of the reviews for this book before I was finished and wondered why women were so disappointed with the ending. I continued. In finishing the story, I realized that the protagonist, Kayla, let a certain type of reader down in her choice of friends and her understanding of friendship. It was difficult to believe that this woman who we came to love and understand, would treasure relationships that seemed so barren of the usual love between women. Granted, I have friends who don't look great on paper too but I love them none the less. The true disappointment here was the last few pages of the book. For me. As a reader I did not reach a satisfied conclusion, an ending I could walk away from without feeling confused and betrayed. Usually I do with Hilderbrand novel. She's consistent that way.
That said, I would still recommend this novel to anyone looking for a good read. Hey, it's Elin Hilderbrand who usually writes books that are six star! I took off .5 because of the ending but still loved the book. The cake was melt in your mouth delicious!

I usually like Elin Hildebrand’s books, but I wasn’t a fan of this one. It seems to be a story about a family destroyed, and I don’t see much redeeming about it. I don’t read Elin’s books to be depressed; I read them to be uplifted and entertained. In this way, this particular book isn’t at all the same caliber as the others I’ve read.

I don't know why I keep reading these books! I love the setting and it's very descriptive, beautiful. The story starts interesting but falls apart with no explanations for the characters actions. Even with the quick ending, I'm left asking why? Why did he or she do this? What happened? It was disappointing.

I am reading Elian Hilderbrand's books slowly but surely, not necessarily in order of their release. This one really disturbs me. I love a good beach read but this one is not my favorite. The subject matter is difficult to read and I am not too sure about the interaction of the characters. Reading about Nantucket is always pleasurable and for the most part I was transformed. Seemed like too much time was spent developing the "secret" life of one of the characters only to have the ending rushed and incomplete.

Having read so many Hilderrbrant novels I decided to look at them in chronological order. Good thing I did read the others first. This book being her second I would never have picked up a third.
I had to stop reading because it was so tiresome and skip to the end.
Fortunately, her writing improved and I am able to enjoy my time in Nantucket once again

I love these beach books, light and easy to read. This one disappointed me. Started well, but the ending is not anything happy for anyone. All betrayal and hurting each other. I liked the main character, then hated her in the end. I like Kayla's sons' character but all he seems to do is masturbate. Ending seemed rushed. Towards end was dragged out but then boom, the ending of the story is wrapped up in a couple of pages. It left me thinking, that's it?
I didn't care for this book at all. I loved how it started out, then it turned weird, really fast. I usually LOVE Elin Hilderbrand, but this one was a disappointment.
