Didn't anticipate the murderer-perpetrator in the convoluted mystery until the end - I appreciate that. Also, as an aside, I will need to look into the story of various ghosts residing in Charleston next time I visit there. It is rare when a book of fiction provides intrigue in real life, LOL.

Max Darling has a problem; his client is missing in Carolyn Hart's SOUTHERN GHOST. A young woman is reported being seen with Max, which upsets Annie. Annie has long wanted Max to take his investigative business seriously, but when he does Annie discovers chinks in her own feelings.
The woman hired Max to trace the family tree of an old Chastain, SC family. When he does his client goes missing, but her blood stained car is discovered in a remote location.
Just how far will a family go to protect their historical image. Murder is not obstacle in there determination to hid the past.
A fun read.
Nash Black, author of SINS OF THE FATHERS.

I really like this series as a whole but this was not one of my favorites. Too many characters and I prefer the stories set in Browards Rock and that include the book store.
  • Oveley
This is the best of the Death on Demand series that I have read to date.
  • Vudojar
I loved this book, I think it was my favorite of her books yet, and I am reading them all. Great plot, and kept you on the edge of your seat.
  • The Apotheoses of Lacspor
I have been reading Caroline Harts books for several years now and can honestly say this is one of her best!! Hard to put down and twists and turns in the book keep you guessing. Is one of the Death on Demand series and definitely worth reading, you won't be disappointed.

Good story, interesting characters--including a classic southern elder female, reminiscent of Maggie Smith. Neat details about southern culture and history.
Love this series!
