Compassionate and unfailingly dramatic, it is a searing and addictive debut novel. A gothic, surreal melodrama. perceptive and affectionate’ Ann Cleeves. An absolute treat to read. I haven’t been so captivated by a writer’s voice since I read Kate Atkinson’s Behind the Scenes at the Museum.

It's not, its Gainsborough Road, Bawtry. A lot of the buildings in the old photo have been demolished or changed, but check out the circled triangular roof. Bearing in mind that the Streetview image is taken from a significantly higher viewpoint than the old photo.
