Jimmy Johnson served two tours of duty with the Royal Tank Regiment in Northern Ireland in the early Seventies. Adapted from Hidden Wounds: Problems of Northern Ireland Veterans in Civvy Street, by Aly Renwick. When I first took my section on a mobile patrol through this estate we loved it. We had never experienced anything like it before - the whole estate hated the Brits!' he recalled. Johnson's section gloried in the fighting and often, by their own admission, went 'looking for aggro'. But two incidents were to haunt him. In one a woman died of injuries suffered in a bomb explosion.

This book was produced by ex-soldiers. The text was compiled and written by Aly Renwick who served eight years in the British Army in the 1960s. RENWICK, ALY (Author) Barbed Wire (Publisher).

Renwick, Aly (1999). Hidden Wounds: Problems of Northern Ireland Veterans in Civvy Street. McSmith, Andy (8 November 2007). The lost wars: Britain's Malayan campaigns".

Something of a disappointment. The title promises a great deal that it fails to deliver. Something of a disappointment. I was expecting to read text relevant to PTSD among veterans of Northern Ireland but it persistently wanders off to other conflicts in an effort to substantiate what I soon came to suspect were the author's preconceived ideas.

Although the MoD and successive British governments have offered little help to these veterans, there is increasing evidence that their experiences have made it difficult for them to adjust to normal life with, for example, around one quarter of the single homeless in London being ex-service, many of whom end up in prison.

Hidden Wounds by dEUS and Prospektor is an interactive music . Hidden Wounds tells the story of more than 20 of these veterans. A sudden noise, sharp smell, bright light, busy street, even the presence of other people can trigger flashbacks to a traumatic event

While the Western world has been at peace for almost 70 years, young soldiers leave for new fronts. They come from the Netherlands, Belgium, the United States and United Kingdom and served in missions and conflicts from the Second World War to Afghanistan. A sudden noise, sharp smell, bright light, busy street, even the presence of other people can trigger flashbacks to a traumatic event. Estimates vary, but it is likely that at least 20 percent of deployed soldiers display symptoms of PTSD.
