ISBN-13: 978-1557781680. Contreras was born in Madrid in 1582 and left home in 1595 to become a soldier. He led a life full of adventure, fighting Turks and Moors, joining the Knights of Malta, killing his wife and her lover, becoming a hermit and later a ship's captain. He wrote most of his autobiography in 11 days in 1630 and finished it in 1633. Dallas, writer and photographer, provides an extensive introduction and a few notes. The introduction is helpful for the historical background.

Philip Dallas translated and annotated this interesting, and page-turning work, so well that I have kept it on a box at my family's home for several years

Alonso de Contreras wasn't a good example for following, but his life as a soldier was a real adventure. Lope de Vega is one of the most important Spanish writer of that century. He wrote his memoirs in 1633, at the age of 51 years old, in a tavern of Palermo. He told in his memoirs how he arrived to Palermo. There he was appointed governor of Pantanalea, an island off the coast of Barbary, in charge of one hundred and twenty Spanish soldiers. However, his biography was interrupted shortly after, in 1630, without being very clear the details of the rest of his career. Me gusta leer libros.

Yes, Johnson, it is there Parry unloaded all his ship's supplies, and, if my memory serves me right, the roof of the hut he built wasmade out of a mainsail covered by the running-rigging of the Fury. That must have changed a good deal since 1825.
