Marcela Serrano (Santiago, Chile, 1951) has received numerous national and international awards, including the award from the Feria del Libro (Guadalajara) for the best Latin American novel written by a woman.

De todas formas recomiendo Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, sobre todo a quienes gustan del misterio. All of her books cover women heavily; this one is somewhat lighter. Though the idea of a woman fleeing a life of contentment, wealth, health, and a man who loves her, for solitude is empowering.

Marcela Serrano (born 1951) is an award-winning Chilean novelist. In 1994, her first novel, Para que no me olvides, won the Literary Prize in Santiago, and her second book, Nosotros que nos queremos tanto, won the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize for women writers in Spanish. She received the runner-up award in the renowned Premio Planeta competition in 2001 for her novel Lo que está en mi corazón.

This book will show you the diferences from every latin american country and their beauty.

As in every book from Marcela Serrano you get involved since the first pages and the story transports you to her world. This book will show you the diferences from every latin american country and their beauty. This was the third book from Serrano that I read, and today I'm finishing the last one. She's great! 0.

A famous Chilean-American mystery writer disappears in the Miami airport and her husband seeks help. The case is given to a detective in Mexico who underestimates the consequences of this task. All the clues she has lie with the men who she has been with: her husband, an aloof Mexican writer and a revolutionary man who was her lover. Seeking to understand the reasons behind this mystery, the detective emulates the personality of the disappeared writer and her characters.

This book was a perfect choice for me for two reasons: It is a brilliant story about how women feel when they get fed up with living up to what society tells them to do - and even more so in a Latin American country. And also it describes the exact fascination with Mexico that I am experiencing as a foreigner residing in it. The environment, the traditions, the views, the sounds and the sabor. All in all an excellent book!
