Good story line, great writing, just right amount of players. This is one of only a few books I've read that has excellent grammar and is written beautifully. Either the author has an excellent command of English or she has an excellent editor! Either way, this book was a pleasure to read. I actually guessed some of the bad guys, but was surprised about others. Was a little frustrated that one guy was left whose role didn't get addressed but perhaps she's saving him for another book. Smooth and very interesting read. Highly recommend this book.

This was my first Rita Herron book and it won't be my last! I actually bought the whole Slaughter Creek Series.

If you've read any of my reviews than you know that I never go into great detail or give anything away because I feel the reader needs to take this journey all by themselves without any influence from me.

Dying to Tell is the first book in the series. I'm only giving the book 4 stars because its the first book in the series and I don't like to set the bar so high that the next books fall short.

I love romantic suspense because it has a little bit of everything! There were great characters, which I'm sure will appear in the whole series. There were thrills abound, some even unexpected! There were some sex scenes, but in my opinion it was just enough...I'm not a gotta have sex scenes in every chapter, I'm in it for the suspense.

If your looking for a book full of sex, than move on, but if your looking for a great read with great characters, even some evil characters, thrills, unexpected events, a couple sex scenes that you need to read this book.

I'm off to start Her Dying Breath Book 2 in the series...stayed tuned for my next review.

Dying to Tell is the first full-length novel of Rita Herron's series A Slaughter Creek Novel. And what a story it is. This novel has a mixture of romance, suspense, mystery and horror all wrapped up in one book. it was fast paced, action-packed and hard to put down.

It contained lots of twists and turns and murder and mayhem. This story centers around 2 twin girls who grow up in Slaughter Creek after the dead of their parents and are raised by their grandfather. As they grow older, Amelia, one of the twins starts to show symptoms of a psychological disorder and has been in and out of hospitals almost her entire life. Ten years later, Sadie, who lives in San Francisco, has to return after finding out that their grandfather has been murdered, and the Sherriff's main suspect is Amelia.

Sadie comes back to bury her grandfather and help Amelia prove she didn't kill their grandfather. Unfortunately, Sadie has to work with Sherriff Jake Blackwood, who she left years ago because of a painful secret and who she still loves. And of course, Jake still loves her and never got over her leaving.

This setting starts the long list of events that include, betrayals, secrets, mystery, murder and suspense that make up this incredible eerie novel.

This was a pretty good read. Several plot twists. Some were obvious, a few were kind of, meh.... But all in all it was good.

This story leaves you on edge. Each page gripping and urging to be turned. That's how I felt with this story. It grabs your attention and holds you through all the twists it throws at you. And there were a lot.

The characters very believable. You delve into their lives as this story unfolds. You start feeling the emotions that they are going through, hoping something good will come from it all.

Sadie and her sister Amelia have had their troubles. From past and present. No one would believe Amelia, she was mentally troubled. They always thought she was making it up or her alters coming out. Then there was Jake. Sadie was hiding a secret from him. One that surfaced.

With things coming out in the light, lives are threatened people hurt and killed. They find out this is bigger then they could fathom.

Murn

I liked this series, ( I read all 4 of them) because I generally like books which more or less continue the story, but it's not like you are thrilled, because you do not know what will happen, you can guess that the people who are in love will get each other, and the evil murderer gets caught. The story is entertaining enough with gruesome murders, love, sex and enough confusion to go on reading, but for me was something missing which keeps you glued to the pages. With a lot of Goodwill, I gave 4 stars.

I am dying to tell everyone all about this book but that would ruin it for them. I gave it a five because it held my attention from the beginning to the end. The setting was perfect and the characters were developed throughout the story. The subject matter of mental illness was fresh and brought to light the strain it can have on a family. The hot romance was just enough and not too much. I never figured out who, what and why until the book ended. It is worth recommending to others who love a good crime mystery.

Rita Herron was always an automatic buy for me. The last few years she has written books in a variety of genres. My personal favorite has always been the romantic suspense of which she is a master. This book has everything and more, it's a little dark and tragic but that's just part of a good mystery. The characters were well drawn and the story flowed smoothly. Once again this author has given me thrills, chils, romance and pure entertainment.
