With Lieutenant Ramshawe on his way home now, sworn to total silence, Admiral Morgan stood alone in his office at 0230 im, even on a Saturday morning. He yelled through the door for someone to bring him some fresh HOT coffee, and debated whether or not to call the President. Maybe not, he muttered. It won’t do any good. And as soon as the President knows, everyone knows.

It is the year 2007, and the Chinese are poised to challenge America's superiority on the open sea and upset the delicate balance of oil power in the Middle East and the free passage of the world's giant tankers.

The Chinese Navy, in partnership with Iran, has laid a minefield clean across the Strait of Hormuz, holding the world's oil supply hostage. Mystified by China's motive, yet drawn to action, the United States moves to disarm the mines with a huge display of force. At the center of the mission is USS Shark, a 30-year-old nuclear boat on her final tour of duty. When confronted with the unexpected death of brave SEALS, the unimaginable happens: the first mutiny in the modern history of the United States Navy.

Meticulous in its authenticity, terrifying and thrilling, this is the most dramatic story of rebellion on the high seas since The Caine Mutiny was written 50 years ago.

I was not surprised that some of the worst reviews came from Naval officers and if they were looking for exact truth they should not have picked a Fiction, Techno Thriller to read. It is okay in fiction to make up things and people, no mattter how outragrous; in fact, its the point.

The only thing I did not agree with in the book was the ending. It was the wrong but certainly the most realistic verdict. In that he used the truth where I would have used more of Mr. Robinson's great imagination to make it right.

If you can't let the writer's imagination take you where your imagination would like to go don't read fiction, stick to Non-fiction.

I think Patrick Robinson is an outstanding writer in the realm of Fictional Techno Thrillers. I have read all his books in this series in order and will continue to do so as long as he is gracious enough to keep writing them, which I hope will be many more years. In between I will read the other books he has written. And if you want to write a bad review at least have the courage to put your name on it.

If you like good Techno Thrillers which let you escape the real world for awhile then read this book and all the others by this outstanding FICTION writer.

WHY does Robinson start this book slamming Republicans (who usually support the Navy's needs) while praising a Democrat woman killer? It had nothing to do with the storyline. I'll probably never read another of his books since he now taints his stories with false politics. Frustrating...
