Elizabeth Chadwick writes history as it was, with a bit of literary license here and there, but she tells you what she changed at the end of the book. She writes about the medieval period because she is fascinated by it. I have discovered more direct ancestors reading her books than i could ever imagine. This was my first Elizabeth Chadwick book and I loved it from the beginning. William Marshal is definitely a man for his time who should have a lot of books and movies about him. I guess he was too good, decent and honest to be a great hero in a movie sense.
