  • Nidor
Written by one of the finest art historians ever, the writer had first hand knowledge of the background material with interviews of artist family members and access to artists correspondents previously unpublished. Unlike other art historians most of whom fall into the category of would be poets who live in dream world, A German born jew who left Paris in 1939 for the safety of the United States Rewald was a war refugee acutely aware of the way wars end one era and bring about another, with new tastes and styles coinciding. In short he saw the big picture all the while maintaining a masterful grasp of the minute.
