On the whole, as average income has risen, dispersion of incomes has lessened. It seems that greater equality is easier to attain in the richer than in the poorer countries. The inequality of incomes and wealth inside the developing countries is often very high, and almost always much more extreme than within the moderately prosperous economies. The very richest groups of countries like the USA and its near imitators, have, it is true, extremes of wealth and income, often imperfectly measured by the official statistics.

Essay 1. Causes of Inequality: Inequalities of income and wealth are caused by the following factors. A progressive personal income tax not only reduces inequalities in the distribution of income but also introduces an element of equity. But care should be taken that the income tax does not adversely affect the incentives to work, save, and invest of the high-income groups.

It is an important measure to determine the fairness in a country and the social outcome in a country such as the level of corruption, crime rate and poverty.
There are a wide variety of types of economic inequality, most notably measured using the distribution of income (the amount of money people are paid) and the distribution of wealth (the amount of wealth people own). Besides economic inequality between countries or states, there are important types of economic inequality between different groups of people.
