Thanks so much for that. See how complicated writing a book can be! It’s all down to chance, concidence and, mainly, drunken conversations. Another chance conversation on a tour bus in South Africa brought Carol The Vet into my life and much-appreciated additional material. Also to Louise Davidson for allowing me to spend time on her smallholding and for not making me do anything that involved the non-feeding end of the animals – phew! CONTENTS.

Milly Molly Mandy settles further into my lap and, surprisingly, her warm soft body gives me comfort.

This book is so very touching. I didn't know the subject-matter at the time I bought this book and the book A Place to Call Home by Carole Matthews also, but I happened to start reading this book during the death of my best friend's husband. Although his death was expected and the character's wasn't, the book helped me. I had known my friend's husband longer than she had so I had a hard time too. The humor in the book is very touching and very helpful too. The dog Hamish is so funny I almost wet my pants!

Just finished this book - Carole story made for a joyful and exciting read. I laughed and was kept amused by this wonderful story.
I just could not leave this book down – the Author is wonderful indeed. The characters in the book are so lovely I just hated coming to the end, however, the ending was excellent – a super read. Amy and her family, Guy and his practice and of course the wonderful Alan. Including the animals Hamish, Milly Molly Mandy, Doris, Daphne and Delila the sheep – Littler Stuart the lamb. highly recommend

I enjoyed this book and cared about the characters, even though the plot line and the ending were quite predictable. I would certainly suggest this book to a friend. Some truly heart-warming moments.
