I love Ivan T Sanderson and have read his book invisible residents. In 1967, John Keel and Ivan Sanderson made a serious attempt to write a book together. he also espoused the idea of aliens coming from outerspace and taking residence in the ocean. Scramjet, thanks for the reply buddy and it's certainly some very interesting speculation as the sheer number of credible reports on SkyFloating's USO thread and sites like WaterUFO.

This book sheds light on a subject that I was not very familiar with regarding underwater ufo's. It is very interesting and a great amount of material about underwater ufo's. I recommend this book. Good bedtime book to read.

We assume that we are the only form of what we call "intelligent" life on this planet, and since we live in the atmosphere we assume that no other intelligence could evolve or could exist in water. In this book, Sanderson, a renowned zoologist with a keen interest in the paranormal, puts forward the curious theory that âeoeOINTS"-Other Intelligences-live under the Earthâe(tm)s oceans. Sanderson postulates that the OINTS are behind many UFO sightings as well as the mysterious disappearances of aircraft and ships in the Bermuda Triangle. What better place to have an impenetrable base than deep within the oceans of the planet?

Sanderson passed away around 1971. He was a British Naval Intelligence officer who was very well-versed in oceanography, in the biological sciences, and in a broad array of subjects related to Unidentified Aquatic and Aerial Objects. I regard him as one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th Century. He posits the concept that aliens, whether indigenous or not to this planet, have been living in the hydrosphere and lithosphere for over 300 million years, and that they are so advanced that they don't bother with us, which is similar to how humans treat ants. But like us, they like to collect samples once in a while from the face of the earth, i.e., the bottom of the atmosphere, for their study and research. It is an amazing read. He documents countless sightings and abductions off sea-going vessels where only parrots and dogs were left behind.

Invisible Residents is a classic treatise on unexplainable incidents which occur in the world's oceans. Known for his scholarly research into the paranormal, Ivan T. Sanderson makes a very strong case for the existence of highly evolved entities who make use of the world's deepest ocean basins for illicit bases ~ or perhaps, these denizens of the deep are ancient, highly-advanced inhabitants of the earth, just as we are. For those who love unexplained mysteries and are also interested in hearing an expert on the subject discuss the possible underlying causes, this book will provide much food for thought and hours of entertaining reading.

A little behind the times. More research has been done concerning the Bermuda Triangle since the book was written. However, information about underwater happenings is very interesting.

Excellent book. A classic. Published in the early 70's, it covers some strange goings-on in our oceans and other bodies of water. Great read.

This book talks more about UFO-ology than it does about intelligent undersea life as the title suggests (A Disquisition upon Certain Matters Maritime, and the Possibilty of Intelligent Life under the Waters). A very thorough study of UFO's either emerging or submerging in the Ocean, & it does bring up some interesting theories towards the end of the book.. But its tedious reading through all the different accounts of UFO sightings.

Ivan Sanderson was a man able to put a scholarly touch on an unbelievable subject.....the book is for those inquiring minds that are willing to think about possibilities beyond conventional thinking....underwater UFOs incidents...documented in maritime records.....In my view this book is one of the classics on this subject....a superb read.
I haven't had time to read the book yet but it's on my list. I was pleased with the delivery time and would certainly order from World of Books USA again. Being that the book was printed in the early 70s the book was in good shape and the price was reasonable.
