Red World and White book. Although he was sent to the White Man's school, he says very little of the white man's teachings. It is the Indian teachings that his older relatives taught him that he was most interested in. The background for this book is the White Earth Reservation in the extreme north of Minnesota. Here in the forests and among the lakes he describes how his people lived and traveled. Since I live I was able to read this book in one sitting.

The largest of his two works in the memoir genre, it includes some of the most recognizable samples of first-person narratives in Romanian literature, and is considered by critics to be Creangă's masterpiece. Structured into separate chapters written over several years (from 1881 to ca. 1888), it was partly read in front of the Junimea literary club in Iași.
