The true Israel of God have been regenerated by the power of Christ's cross; they are held in the grip of its love and grace. It's in the Bible: "God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and unto the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of Go. True Israel is faithful Israel, and only faithful Israel inherits God’s promises. True Israel is faithful Israel because they have faith in the only faithful Israelite who has ever lived-Jesus the Messiah. And faithful Israelites are those circumcised in their hearts, those who have trusted in the Messiah. Only Jesus completely fulfilled all of the Father’s righteous laws for Israel. As the only faithful Israelite, Jesus is an Israelite according to the flesh, and He enjoyed all the benefits that come from being born into the nation that possessed the oracles of God.

Israel, the recipients of adoption by God, the law, the patriarchs - God’s covenant people of promise - is cut off .

Israel, the recipients of adoption by God, the law, the patriarchs - God’s covenant people of promise - is cut off from God. But God has not broken his covenant, nor has he forgotten his promises. Rather, as Paul explains, there has always been a division between physical Israel and the true Israel of God, between Abraham’s offspring and the children of Abraham, between the children of flesh and the children of promise. The promises of God are for those who are children of promise (Romans 9:8) - it is the work of the sovereign God creating children out of what no human being can do. Humans can procreate to further a physical lineage.
