A meta-analysis is a statistical analysis that combines the results of multiple scientific studies. Meta-analysis can be performed when there are multiple scientific studies addressing the same question, with each individual study reporting measurements that are expected to have some degree of error. The aim then is to use approaches from statistics to derive a pooled estimate closest to the unknown common truth based on how this error is perceived.

As per usual with Sage series, this is a quick and dirty not a detailed tome. It is also a touch dated being from the 80s references are old and newness has worn off. The basics are still there though and it serves as a good primer before moving on to more in depth texts.

Terrific clear instructions on meta analysis. Good overview but lacks instructional tool explanation.

This book is very detailed on the statistical activities around meta-analysis. Some of it is very difficult to take in if you are looking for an overview of this method. However, the information is good and will correlate well once you start looking at meta-analysis studies.

This brief tract provides a good overview of the development and scientific uses of meta-analysis. It is well written and easily accessible to the non-statistician reader.
