So begins this expertly written book by Ken Wilson, a pastor, practitioner and pilgrim to engage those drawn to the fascinating figure buried in the messy field of religion. Jesus Brand Spirituality is for those disillusioned by the current swirl of cultural conflict, moralism, and religious meanness that amounts to a form of trademark infringement on the movement that bears his name. Combining candor, curiosity and rare insight, the author explores four dimensions of the spirituality Jesus left in his wake-active, contemplative, biblical, and communal

Benjamin Wilson (1817–1900) was an autodidact Biblical scholar and writer of the Emphatic Diaglott translation of the Bible (which he translated between 1856 and 1864). He was also a co-founder of the Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith. Wilson was born in Halifax, England, probably in 1817, but spent the majority of his life in the United States (to which he moved, initially to Geneva, Illinois, with his family, in 1844), where he died on May 8, 1900, in Sacramento, California.

Ken Wilson provides valuable insights in psychology plus a straight from the shoulder, thoughtful discussion of theological reasons for his views. Readers will glean practical advice that can be applied by anyone faced with the challenges of counseling friends and neighbors and dealing with personal issues. The subtitle says it well: "Helping Hurting People Through Powerful Principles and Insights from the Bible." This is a "how to" book for anyone who must deal with or help others deal with counseling issues. Examples in the first 14 chapters are composites of actual cases in Wilson's work as a professional counselor. Chapters 15 and 16 conclude the book with and introduction to and basics of Temperament Theory. While written from a thoroughly Christian perspective, Wilson includes a discussion of various counseling theories and practices plus interesting historical citations.

I just received my copy of this book the other day and I can't wait to get back to read it. I was only on page 5 and I was already recommending the book to others. I take every moment I can to read. Even greater, I have already been able to put in to practice some of the things that I have read and can more easily identify problems and characteristics of a situation just based on what I have read. By the way, I am only on page 12 now. So I know so much more is going to be revealed to me through the text of this book. Don't wait! Get you copy now!
