Tattered Loving book.

Books by Cara Colter. The Cop, the Puppy and Me. Battle for the Soldier’s Heart. The interior dividing walls within the house had been torn down to make one large room. What remained for walls were painted a shade of pale green one muted tone removed from that of the exterior of the house. The large space was connected by the expanse of old hardwood, rich with patina, and yet rugs and bookcases had been used to artfully divide the open area into four spaces. Each was unique, and each so obviously represented a nursery.

I enjoyed the book but did not love it. SPOILERS I liked that it focuses on the break down of a couple's marriage because she experiences postpartum depression, which is not a common theme, especially when the book was written. I loved that they were faithful to each other even when they were legally separated and she was asking for a divorce. He was jealous and possessive (but not overboard) which is something that I like. The reason I did not give it a better rating is that it dragged in parts and it took way too long for them to become romantically involved again and to admit to loving each other. Also, I would have liked it the book to have a epilogue to confirm that their marriage was a success. I was not sure that they would be together in the long run as I do not think they learned how to resolve their problems.

Okay so it wouldn't win the pulitzer but it was a nice angsty marriage in trouble reunion fest. Sapphy was a child bride at 17 and ill-equipped for a difficult pregnancy in a country far away from family and friends.

Thane, Greek God extraordinaire is still building his business so doesn't have the time to support her.

Result, she gets Post-partum depression and paranoid. Misunderstandings pile up and Thane is fighting a last ditch battle against the divorce Sapphy demands.

His only weapon is the children and he uses them to good effect. Lots of lovely angst and a lovely tortured hero full of guilt and stuff.

I enjoyed it and the ending was lovely even if a bit cliche ridden.
