One of the great things about this book, if you are a busy person, is you can either read the book from cover to cover, or pick and choose the stories behind the dedications you want to read.

Once Again to Zelda - Marlene Wagman-Geller. is particularly misleading. What we get are fifty short biographical essays about emotionally resonant stories of authors and their dedicatees. To my spouse" is not a "great dedication" even if the author spells out the name in full or abbreviates it to initials, and most of the dedications featured here amount to little more than this. By and large, the dedications have been chosen for the merits of the stories behind them.

some of them are funny, and some of them are romantic, and with some of them you just thank the good lord in heaven that you aren't living their lives. It's a lot of fun to read.

But Wagman-Geller’s book is a first for me - one I simply could not finish. Oh, I got to page 251 in 276 pages of text (pages 277-313 are references), before that, moving from a willingness to be entertained to doubt to disbelief to disgust. I began charitably enough.
